Mitt Romney swept Tuesday’s races, continuing his march toward the GOP presidential nomination, according to NBC projections. The GOP nominee-in-waiting added Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and Rhode Island, to his list of victories. “After 43 primaries and caucuses … I can say with confidence and gratitude that you have given me a great honor and solemn responsibility,” he told supporters in a speech dubbed “A Better America Begins Today.” Romney delivered the speech to a roaring crowd in New Hampshire, a swing state, where he kicked off his campaign last June. Newt Gingrich, meanwhile, vowed to continue his campaign through the Republican convention in Tampa, dispelling rumors that he might drop out if he performed poorly in Delaware.
