Liberty: State Police Charge Man With Locking His Dog Inside Hot Car With No Water

nysp2State Police in Liberty arrested a 52 year old Long Island Man on charges of animal cruelty. Several good Samaritans attending Tuesday night’s Journey/Steve Miller Band concert at Bethel Woods approached State Troopers on scene to tell them that a dog was locked in a hot vehicle in the parking lot with no owner to be found. Troopers were led to the vehicle where they found a poodle confined in the hot vehicle. The vehicle had been left with no windows open, and no food or water had been provided for the dog. Troopers gained access to the vehicle and removed “Milo”, who appeared to be in good health after his ordeal.

The dog’s owner, Michael C. Star of Mamaroneck, responded to a note left by Troopers, and came to the State Police command center after the concert. He was subsequently charged with failing to provide food or water to a confined animal, as well as locking a companion animal in a vehicle during extreme temperatures.

Star is scheduled to appear before the town of Bethel Court on June 30th at 10:00 AM to answer the allegations.
