As YWN Catskills first reported yesterday, there will be emergency repairs to Route 42.
The following is by Town of Fallsburg Supervisor Steven Vegliante:
A section of Route 42 between the old Flagler Hotel (Crystal Run) and Stewarts in Old Falls has suffered major flood damage.
Travel on Route 42 will be limited in that section for the next week as NYSDOT crews work around the clock to restore the roadway.
There will be periodic closures and limited one lane travel in that section until further notice. There will be no detours at that site.
If possible, avoid travel on that section of Route 42 until further notice.
The Town of Fallsburg is working closely with state and county officials to clean up and repair the damage done to both Route 42 and other town roads and infrastructure.
The safety of the road crews and residents and the proper rebuilding of Route 42 is our paramount concern.
The public’s patience in this rebuilding process is being asked for and will be very much appreciated.
We look forward to the cooperation of the public in our efforts to repair the flood damage caused by the recent inclement weather.
