At a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Congressman Gibson, a Republican representing the 19th District in New York, made reference to the national healthcare debate in his praise of the Refuah Health Center, “your commitment to delivering excellence in healthcare is commendable and I think it is going to be part of a solution going forward for our entire country.”

The event was attended by local and state officials as well as the administration and staff of the Refuah Health Center, located in Spring Valley, New York. Refuah has been serving the population of Sullivan County for over 15 years. The new Refuah pharmacy is the only pharmacy in all of South Fallsburg.

Refuah’s provision of healthcare services in Sullivan County began with a mobile medical van which provided quality healthcare to residents spending the summer in South Fallsburg. In 2002, with the encouragement of Sullivan County officials, Refuah established a permanent all year round site for its health center while maintaining the mobile medical vans.

“Our mission has always been to identify and enable underserved populations to access comprehensive, quality health care,” said Mrs. Chanie Sternberg, President and CEO of Refuah Health Center. ”Building a pharmacy was a natural extension of that,” she added.

Mr. Gibson declared that he is working on providing more pharmacies in other areas of his district. He noted that Americans are “blessed” that we “continue to live longer” and that “access to a pharmacy is key to that.”
