The National Weather Service canceled any remaining flood watches in our area as the soaking rains moved out. Although scattered storms are still possible Friday afternoon. There is no longer a threat for flooding.
Small waterways, and any flooded roads are expected to recede quickly. However, that doesn’t mean the American Red Cross isn’t prepared. Local officials said they are ready to go just in case.
“We’re making sure that we have supplies ready to roll if [we need] to open any shelters. A lot of the rivers and streams in the area are at capacity. Some of the dams up in Sullivan County are at capacity as well. So, some of the areas, there are some of the areas of concern with some of the communities that are along those spans of rivers. So, if they do have to do any kind of evacuation, Red Cross is getting ready to respond,” said John Cascone, American Red Cross.
