With tens of thousands of vacationers getting ready to head upstate in just two weeks, the annual pre-summer meeting was held on June 6th at the Emergency Service Center in Goshen, New York. Community leaders met with law enforcement from nine different counties and representatives from both the New York State Police, the FBI, MTA, the US Department of Homeland Security, Catskill Regional Medical Center, Orange County Regional Medical Center. The reason for teh meeting is an ongoing effort to keep the lines of communication open during the busy summer months. It is estimated that over 100,000 religious Jews travel through upstate New York during the nine weeks of summer.

A variety of issues were discussed during this crucial meeting, providing the attendees not only with an opportunity to get acquainted with leading law enforcement officials, but also to ensure that any and all issues that may arise during the summer season will be handled as pleasantly and efficiently as possible. Camp directors, community leaders and heads of large institutions mingled with sheriffs, state troopers, chaplains, liaisons and other local officials on both the state and local levels, giving them a forum to discuss expected large events, prime vacation dates, and any concerns regarding issues that could improve relations between law enforcement and summer residents.
