More than 200 military and civilian emergency medical responders will be participating in a disaster drill at a New York Air National Guard base in the Hudson Valley.
State military officials say the drill will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh in Orange County, home to the 105th Airlift Wing.
The exercise will test the ability of local medical facilities and agencies to receive casualties, perform triage and transport disaster victims to local medical centers.
In addition to the New York Air National Guard, other agencies participating include the Department of Veterans Affairs and the county emergency management office. Members of two local Boy Scout troops will act as s simulated casualties.
