On the hunt for a smartphone at a cheap price? You might want to visit a local Best Buy.
For today only, the electronics retailer is offering Google’s Nexus S smartphone for free.
The catch? Consumers might sign up for a two-year contract with either AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile and activate the device at Best Buy.
The Nexus S — designed by Google and Samsung — includes a 4-inch touch display, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (NFC), as well as a 5-megapixel camera and Google’s Android 2.3 operating system (nicknamed Gingerbread).
For more details on specs, check out the official Nexus S web page.

Before you jump on this “deal”, do yourself a favor and read the comments on the USA Today link…
Got myself an Android “smartphone”. Nice toy, but a lousy phone. It’s missing many options that my old plane phone had.
You can’t create groups, no distinct ring individual contacts for text messages, quicktexts can’t be edited or added to; you just have the fixed ones that the “dumbphone” comes with, etc. etc.
As I said, it may be called a “smartphone”, but more accurately it’s a “dumbphone”, but a cute toy for you waste your time with.

You may want to Google a bit – you can do all of those things with Android phones.
Groups: click on Contacts->Groups
Distinct Rings for SMS: try Handcent, a free SMS app that has this feature
Quicktext: also available in Handcent or SMS Popup
