YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Hagon Rav Nachum Zev Dessler ZATZAL, the legendary Mechanech of Cleveland, Ohio.
Rav Dessler was a Menahael of the Mosdos Hachinuch that Telshe Yeshiva established in Cleveland (Hebrew Academy of Cleveland) for close to 70 years.
He was a son of Rav Eliyahu Eliezer Dessler ZATZAL, the Mechaber of the Michtov M’Eliyahu, and an Einikle of Gedolei Yisroel, including Rav Yisroel Salantar (from his fathers side), and Rav Simcha Zisel of Kelm (from his mothers side).
He leaves behind a large Mishpacha of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren – all following in the Derech Hatorah that he strived to instill in his thousands of Talmidim.
Surviving him is his Choshuver Rebbitzen Miriam Desler, three sons: The noted Askan & R’ Reuven, Rav Eliyahu Eliezer and Rav Simcha Zisel; and daughters: Mrs. Sarika Schiff, wife of Rav Emanuel Schiff of Yeshiva Bais Shraga in Monsey, Mrs. Malkie Rappaport, wife of Rav Dovid Simcha Rappaport of Lakewood. He had a third daughter who preceded him, Rebbitzen Peshy Brudny A”H, the late wife of Hagon Rav Elya Brudny Shlita, Rosh Yeshiva in Mirrer Yeshiva. Rebbitzen Pesha Brudny A”H was Niftar two years ago after an illness R”L.
Rav Dessler was just a few days short of his 90th birthday when he was Niftar on Sunday morning.
The Levaya is scheduled for Monday morning in Cleveland, and the Kevura will take place in Har HaMenuchos in Yerushalayim.

Boruch Dayan Emes.
This is a true loss for Klal Yisrael.
I was zoche to have study in Yavne while Rav Dessler a mechanech. I will never forgot the times in which Rav Dessler would come to our classroom and teach us. Baruch Dayan Ha’emet.
How about EY info?
Levaya in Eretz Yisroel is on Tuesday afternoon at Shamgar at 6:15pm
I remember very clearly Rabbi Dessler speaking to Yavne Seminary about the importance of ‘clean speech’ That the words coming out of your mouth should be clean. Use nice terms vs. street talk.
