Two chareidi children from the same family were injured, struck by a car as they rode their bicycles into the street from between two cars on Sunday, 22 Elul. Sadly, the 4-year-old sustained grave injuries and was Niftar shortly after.

The 4-year-old, David Sofer z”l, was killed on Sunday afternoon in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of Yerushalayim. He and his brother Yitzchak Shalom went into the street and were struck by a passing car on Shaare Torah Street. Yitzchak sustained only light injuries B”H. According to the report, both were not wearing helmets.

Magen David Adom reports receiving the call at 15:36, dispatching EMTs and paramedics. They were both transported to the hospital and the younger one was pronounced dead in the trauma center of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Police are investigating.

David attended the Achiezer Cheider, and was the son of Rav Yehuda Shmuel Sofer, a mashgiach in Yeshiva Rechasim located on the street where the fatal accident occurred. He was a grandson of Rav Eliyahu Tzvi Sofer, the rosh yeshiva. The rebitzen is a daughter of Rav Yehuda Dan Moshe Harari ZT”L from Yeshivat Rinat HaTorah who was niftar last year, collapsing during a Friday night Shabbos meal.

The levaya was in Har Menuchos on Sunday night.
