Tragedy in Yerushalayim: 44-Year-Old Avreich is Suddenly Niftar

candle914Avreich R’ Gil Arieli z”l, in his 40s, was niftar on Tuesday morning 22 Sivan. The niftar lived in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of the capital and was a member of the Ateres Shlomo Kollel.

EMS units were summoned to Ramat Eshkol after the avreich complained of chest pain at about 5:30 Tuesday morning. His condition deteriorated rapidly. EMS personnel began life-saving efforts after he went into cardiac arrest. At some point the physician present pronounced him dead on the scene. The niftar is survived by his wife and five children.

The niftar was born in Israel and was a baal teshuvah. He completed law studies as well and attended the Maor HaTalmud Yeshiva in Rehovot. His friends explain that as a certified attorney he often assisted talmidim who needed forms signed towards receiving a deferment from IDF service.

The levaya, which is to be announced, will take place in Shamgar. Zaka responded and removed the meis to Shamgar as well as assisting Mrs. Arieli in dealing with police towards clearing the body for burial.

  1. A real tragedy. Gil was a sweet guy, always with a smile and something nice to say. Always helped out people in their time of need, financially and otherwise. He should find menucha and his family should find nechoma….

  2. I knew him from Ramat Eshkol. A sweet, fine, happy person; always with a good word. A true Ben Torah, a medakdek b’halacha, a real Yerei Shamayim, no airs, pleasant, warm. He will be missed terribly. A tremendous blow to his family and the entire community. May The Ribono Shel Olam give the strength to the almana and yesomim to carry on without their precious husband and father. V’hachai yiten el libo – there was no foreshadowing. No one knows when their time is up. Chap arein, more Torah, more chesed, more mitzvos. At the end of the day that’s all there is. And if we’re misorer from this, it will be a zechus for the niftar z”l. Mi sheamar l’olamo dai yomar l’tzaroseinu dai.
