12:11 IL: Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has announced he plans to attend the levaya of the three kedoshim HY”D in Modi’in at 17:30.
UPDATE 10:48: It is reported the levayas will leave the homes of each family, in Talmon, Nof Ayalon and Elad at 15:30. A joint levaya will then be held in Modi’in at 17:30, and the kedoshim HY”D will be buried side by side.
Following the achdus that has accompanied the past 18 days, the families of the kedoshim HY”D have decided בְּחַיֵּיהֶם, וּבְמוֹתָם לֹא נִפְרָדוּ.
As such, they will have one levaya together on Tuesday, 3 Tammuz 5774. They will be buried side by side in Modi’in. Officials have announced that the process of official identification of the niftarim has been completed. The levayas are expected to take place today. A time has yet to be announced.
The families are reportedly pressed officials to have their sons buried in Mount Herzl Military Cemetery in Yerushalayim even though they are not soldiers.
After the 2002 battle on Worshippers Path in Hebron, on that fateful erev Shabbos, the families of the three fallen first response unit members killed in the shootout with terrorists asked to have their loved ones interred in a military cemetery. Then Prime Minister Ehud Barak decided they would not be buried in Mount Herzl, but they received a full military cemetery in Har Menuchos.
However, the levayas will not be in Mt. Herzl but in Modi’in according to the latest information. The time, schedule and other pertinent information will be published as soon as it becomes available.

Today, 3 Tammuz, is the yartzeit of 2 giants, leaders of Klal Yisrael – 1 from the Chassidic world, the Lubavitcher Rebbe R’ Menachem Mendel ben R’ Levi Yitzchak Shneerson zt”l; and 1 from the Torah world, R’ Yosef Chaim Shneur ben R’ Aron Kotler zt”l, Rosh Yeshiva of Lakewood, NJ. They both had great impacts on the Jewish world by spreading Torah and Kedushah all over the world.
These 3 Kedoshim also had a great impact on all of us and many became closer to Hakadosh Baruch Hu because of them through Tefillah, Tshuva and accepting upon themselves many good deeds.
May the families be comforted with the fact that their souls are on the highest level in Gan Eden. The Gemara in Pesachim (50a) says that no one can stand in the special place in Gan Eden where kedoshim merit to stand.
Of course they were soldiers….soldiers of the Torah on their way home here for Shabbos, but Hashem knows why HE had to have them back HOME!!! May we all be zoche to hear the shofar of Moshiach very soon!
