candle914A tragedy occurred early Wednesday morning 13 Sivan 5774. One of the participants in the Belzer chasenah in Yerushalayim was involved in a vehicular accident on Highway 1 near Ein Chemed Interchange at about 05:30. It is reported a number of chassidim were in the vehicle, apparently heading home following the chasenah of the rebbe’s granddaughter.

The vehicle slammed into a truck and overturned. One person, a man in his 30s, was killed and a number of others injured. The driver, who is among the injured, is a Zaka volunteer and he summoned assistance with his radio.

As Zaka works together with Ichud Hatzalah, EMS personnel were activated and dispatched. The injured were transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim.

The news of the fatal accident spread quickly in Kiryas Belz in Yerushalayim as mispallalim heard the news, davening for their recovery during shachris.

The niftar was identified as Rav Yosef Yehuda Avrohom Viner Z”L, 31, from Beit Shemesh, the father of seven. His parents are prominent members of the Belze Chassidus.

According to preliminary information released by police investigators, the vehicle was behind a truck and set out to pass. The front right corner of the private car hit the rear left of the truck, spun out of control and flipped. Rav Wind was seated in the front right seat, apparently killed by the impact of the strike into the rear of the truck.

  1. unbelievably tragic! The belze community had such a big simcha yesterday. Not being belz, we felt it in the air and were so happy for them. The rebbe being one that is known to take tragedies as such very very hard is probably distraught by this.
To #2: 5:30 Am after the chasuna.
