HaGaon HaRav Chaim Avraham Zonnenfeld ZT”L, the Chief Rabbi of Ramat Aviv was niftar on Wednesday night at the age of 82. The niftar was a great grandchild of HaGaon HaRav Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld ZT”L ZY”A and a son of Rav Aaron Z”L.

The rav was selected to serve as the chief rabbi of Ramat Gan decades ago and he worked hard to bring Yiddishkheit to that area of Tel Aviv.

During recent month he took ill and he was hospitalized in Ichilov Hospital. He was brought to the home of his daughter in Yerushalayim on erev Pesach but did not feel well and was taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital. His condition took a sharp turn for the worse in the past days. The levaya took place on Wednesday night the eve of 15 Iyar 5774 at 23:30 in Shamgar and kvura was on Har HaZeisim.
