Terror Victim HY”D Laid to Rest


imageTerror victim IDF soldier Pvt. Edan Atias HY”D was laid to rest on Wednesday evening in his home community of Upper Nazareth. The 19-year-old soldier was inducted into the IDF three weeks ago and he was serving in Base 80.

The victim was asleep when the Jenin are resident began to stab him repeatedly in his upper torso.

Edan’s mother told the press that she arrived at HaEmek Hospital shortly after being notified but it was too late, her son was already gone.

A friend explained that he spoke with Eden on Tuesday night and the young soldier happily explained he would be home for Shabbat, getting out of basic training.

The attack occurred on an Egged 823 bus that travels between Upper Nazareth and Tel Aviv. 12 people have been murdered in terror attacks on that bus line in four different attacks.

· On November 29, 2001 a suicide bomber blew himself up near Base 80. Three people were killed and nine injured.

· On March 5, 2002 another suicide bus took place on the bus as it stopped at the Afula Central Bus Station, the site of Wednesday’s attack. One person was killed and five injured.

· On March 20, 2002, fifteen days later, a terrorist detonated a bomb on the bus when the driver stopped at Musmous Junction. Seven people were killed.

· On November 13, 2013 a terrorist stabbed IDF soldier Edan Atias to death when the bus pulled into the Afula station.
