Rabbi Avraham Zuckerman, founder and Rosh Yeshivat Bnei Akiva, was niftar on motzei Shabbos Parshas Vayera 5774 at the age of 98. In ת”ש, together with Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Neria ZT”L they founded Yeshivat Bnei Akiva in Kfar HaRoeh. Last year, the niftar merited completing shas with his son, grandson and great grandson.
Born in Lithuania in 1915, the rav was the elder of the religious Zionist rabbonim. He learned with the Steipler ZY”A, and moved to Eretz Yisrael in 1936. Four years later, in 1940, he and Rav Neria established the Bnei Akiva yeshiva network.
Deputy Minister of Religious Services Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan released the following statement upon hearing of his petira.
“Rav Zuckerman was the elder of the religious Zionist roshei yeshiva, a major talmid chacham who trained many generations of talmidei chachamim who follow in his path of religious Zionism. Just last year during the daf yomi siyum we merited seeing him complete shas with his son, grandson and great grandson, something not all Jews merit.”
The levaya began at 15:00 at the yeshiva in Kfar HaRoeh and kvura was in the yishuv beis hachaim.

He was the first cousin of R’ Mordechai Zuckerman ztl of Givat Shaul (whose yahrzeit is this Thursday, I believe) and a Tzaddik in his own right.BD”E
