YWN regrets to inform you of the petira of Rav Avraham Kamenetsky, the son of Maran Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky zt”l.

Rav Avraham, a resident of Brooklyn, was his father’s beloved youngest son. He was renowned for his pleasant ways and friendly demeanor. His home in Flatbush was Rav Yaakov’s home away from home, and many of the momentous decisions of gedolei Yisrael in earlier years took place there.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Kamenetsky, his sons, R; Gershon, R’ Yosef and R’ Yitzchak, and his daughters Mrs. Ettie Neustadt of Detroit, Mrs. Penina Zwyica of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Esther Fireman of Monsey.

His brothers ybl”t are HaGaon Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky, RY Philadelphia, HaGaon Rav Binyamin Kamenetsky, RY South Shore, and HaGaon Rav Nosson Kamenetsky of Itri Yeshiva in Yerushalayim. His sister is Mrs. Rivka Diskind of Baltimore/Har Nof.

This is the third petira in the Kamenetsky family in recent months. Rav Avraham’s sister, Rebitzen Malka Shurin passed away after Pesach, and his brother in law, Rav Hirsch Diskind zt”l, the son in law of Rav Yaakov, passed away just last month.
