A true talmud Chochom.
He always pleaded with us, to start showing HKB”H that we are a true Light onto the Nations, by having sincere respect and empathy, for all Human Beings, Yidden and Non-Yidden. Especially our Non-Yiddishe neighbors who are our hosts during the time of Golus.
Reb Chaim Dov Altusky ztl was the best Rebbe I’ve ever had. MinHashomayim I ended up in Torah Ore Yeshiva in 1984, 1985, 1986 so impressed with Rabbi Altusky, changed the direction of my life from University life to Yeshiva life.
He gave shiur everyday – fantastic and inspiring – but also gave a NACH shiur “bein sedarim”, whilst other yeshiva bochrim slept for an hour – many many bochurim listen to Yalkut Shimoni Shiur on Nach – which he recorded for Torah Tapes in NY.
Every moment of the day he sat, we remember seeing him eat and learn nonstop in Beis Hamedrash; even as he walked to Yeshiva along sorotzkin he had a sefer learning.
An amazing sight to see – once seen – you never forget the meaning of Tzaddik. In “Himmel” he will be “at home” and Poel Yeshuas for all Klal Yisroel
What a special Tzadik of a Yid that we lost!!! It’s a loss for the entire Klall Yisroel, he was a true example to see what a real Masmid is combined with Chesed.
His Mechutan Reb Shlomo Brevda Shlita is in dire need of a BIG Refuah Shlemah please Daven for him, Tehilim etc. “Shlomo Leib Ben Miryam”
I attended his Nach Shiurim during the 1980’s at lunchtime despite being tired from Seder, as they were powerful & envigerating.
He could never take his eyes off from a Sepher even for a moment, not even at busy junctures in time such as R’H & Y’K. Every second, was so overly precious to him, not to be squandered.
I sat right in front of Reb Chaim Doc ztl for 2 years. – he was known as the masmid hador. – you could set your watch to his schedule. day in day out. every second, every word, everything he ate, was measured and accounted for. it was something to see. lo pusik puma migirsah. not one second.
before you asked a question, you made sure it was a real question so as not to waste his time with something that a rishon already speaks about. He sefer chidushai basra is on all of shas.
The only reason there wasnt 300,000 people by the levaya was because he was in a coma like state for the past 12 or more years.
