Yehuda Meir Wald z”l, 10, from Beis Shemesh died the result of a fatal drowning incident near Atlit on Sunday. A friend of the boy, 12, who was swimming with him was saved and is hospitalized in light condition. He managed to extricate himself from the potentially fatal situation. An IDF naval vessel found the body of the boy z”l. Soldiers on board the ship began CPR and the child was transferred to clinic on the base and he was eventually pronounced dead by MDA personnel. A ZAKA team arrived on the base to tend to the niftar.
Earlier in the day, another boy died in Ha’emek Hospital in Afula, the result of a drowning incident at the Kinneret. ZAKA was summoned to deal with this child as well.
UPDATE: The levaya of 10-year-old Yehuda Meir Wald z”l, who died in a fatal drowning incident near Atlit, will take place on Monday evening 18 Menachem Av 5772 in the Beit Shemesh Beis Chaim. The family is a resident of the Ramat Shilo area of Beit Shemesh. The father, Rav Avshalom is a rebbe in a yeshiva and the mother, Yakira, is also in education.
Mrs. Wald arrived back in Eretz Yisrael from abroad after learning of the tragedy. A second boy, 12, was able to swim to safety and survived in the incident. He was listed in light condition in a hospital on Monday morning.

There must be a strong voice against swimming (or toveling in mikveh water) without lifeguards. That should apply globally….and even in bungalow colony pools.
