YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Mrs. Chaya Sara Levitan A”H, at the age of 105. Mrs. Levitan is the mother of HaRav Chaim Zev Levitan Shlita, Mora D’asra of Khal Bais Yosef Meir in the Olympia Community of Monsey, and Rosh Yeshiva of Mosdos Zichron Erez.
Mrs. Chaya Sara Levitan was born in Lithuania, and after going though the Holocaust settled in Washington Heights. She lived there for a number of years until she moved to Ranana, Eretz Yisroel, along with her husband, Reb Ahvohom Ziskind Levitan Z”L, who was Niftar 13 years ago.
Mrs. Levitan was healthy, and her mind was functioning until very recently, when she lost all her koichos and her health deteriorated, until her Petira on Wednesday afternoon.
She leaves behind her Choshuver son, Reb Chaim Zev Shlita, as well as a daughter Mrs Judy Katzin (Ranana), dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, living in Monsey, Lakewood, Brooklyn, Chicago, and Eretz Yisroel – all following in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents.
The Levaya will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:00PM in the Bais Hakvoros Hayoshon in Ranana. Shiva will be held at 14 Rechov Schvartz (1st floor).
