Levaya Of Emanuel Ben-Moshiach Z”L; Fell To Death While Building Sukkah

The levaya for Emanuel Ben-Moshiach z”l was held on Thursday afternoon, 8 Tishrei, in the Shaarei Chessed neighborhood of Yerushalayim. Emanuel was the man who fell to his death a day earlier while constructing his sukka. He was transported to the trauma center of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in critical condition, and was niftar a number of hours later. The niftar is survived by a wife and four children, three sons and a daughter.

This is a family that is unfortunately no stranger to aveilus. Emanuel’s first wife was nifteres at a young age. One of their sons was killed a number of months ago in a vehicular accident.

A family friend who spoke with Chadrei Chareidim explained Emanuel was truly known in the community as an ish chessed, a talmid chacham, one who was simply befriended by all who crossed his path and one who took pleasure in assisting those around him.

  1. Someone who knew him told me that every tefilla that he davened, he shed tears, as he reached such a deveikus to Hakadosh Baruch Hu. Baruch Dayan Ha’emet.

  2. His name was Ami-el, not Emmanuel.
I know, I was there. I was at the scene, I was there with his son when his son got the news. And I was at the Levaya.

    Please use his correct name.

And, yes, he shed tears every time he davened. He was a very special person.

  3. JayMatt didn’t he publish the works of his wife’s first husband a young talmud chochum that was nifter at a very young age?
I believe Rav Aurbach wrote some very impressive comment in his hascoma, about Ami-el Z”L
Nebach he also buried a son several years ago that had been living in america

  4. To No. 2

It was obvious that you knew the niftar and I’m sure everyone is sorry for your loss but please don’t nitpick the YWN editors who translated the name in a manner that you dislike. Many Hebrew names don’t translate easily into an English spelling and its clear no one would be confused whether his name was Emannuel, Ami-El or whomever.

  5. Gadolhadora,
NO. 2 wasn’t nitpicking, he was clarifying. The editors here are human and he thought they made a mistake.

  6. Was Amiel Ben-Moshiach z”l a Chabad Lubavitch Chasid?

I’m just curious, because of his last name.

May he rest in peace, and may he be a Maylitz Yosher for Klal Yisroel.
