The levaya of the famed mashgiach of Kol Torah, HaGaon HaRav Gedalia Eisman ZATZAL got underway on motzei Shabbos at 22:00, beginning at the yeshiva and continuing to Har Menuchos for kvura. The Rav was 101.

Born in Warsaw, he learned in Yeshivas Knesses Beis Yitzchok in the city of Kaminitz under HaGaon HaRav Baruch Dov Leibowitz ZATZAL, the Birkas Shmuel. From there he learned for a period in Kletzk under HaGaon HaRav Aharon Kotler ZATZAL. It was there that he met HaGaon HaRav Eliezer Menachem Mann Shach ZATZAL, who was a rebbi in the yeshiva at the time.

After being drafted into the Polish army, he fled to Eretz Yisrael after receiving a permit from HaGaon HaRav Tzvi Yehuda HaCohen Kook ZATZAL. He began learning in Merkaz HaRav until being appointed the mashgiach in Yeshivas Kol Torah in Bayit Vegan, where he remained.

While during his last years he remained at home, he did make it to minyan in the yeshiva daily. Among his talmidim are HaGaon HaRav Yehuda Addis (Yeshivat Kol Yaakov), HaGaon HaRav Avigdor Nebenzahl (Jerusalem’s Old City), HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Machpud (Badatz Yoreh Deah), and HaGaon HaRav Yisrael Meir Lau (Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv).
