A Most Difficult Yerushalayim Levaya

During the motzei Shabbos levaya of HaRav Avraham Yitzchak Meir Weingarten z”l, a chossid of the Rachmistroika community, which made its way from the Shamgar Funeral Chapel past the Rachmistroika Beis Medrash in the Gush 80 area of the capital, a most unpleasant situation developed.

Persons opening the kever called as the hespeidim were ending to inform the family that as they opened the plot they saw bones in the kever, compelling them to ask the Rebbe Shlita if they should bury the niftar in Har Menuchos or ask to dig another grave in Har HaZeisim in the hope of burying him aside other family members. They obtained maps of the plots in Har HaZeisim and B’chasdei Hashem, an acceptable alternative plot in Har HaZeisim was found.

The Chevra Kadisha began opening the new kever while the family waited at the beis medrash, which lasted until almost 2:00am.

Chassidim recall a similar incident regarding the levaya of the previous Rebbe, who was interred in the Ohel of the Rebbes on Har HaZeisim. Chassidim exclaimed it is time to make some order, which can be accomplished by mapping the areas.
