The annual Shuvu simchas beis hashoeva was hosted this year by Mrs. Fanya Gottesfeld-Heller, Mr. & Mrs.Ben Heller, and Mr. & Mrs. Mendy Greenberger at the Heller residence in the Rechavia neighborhood of Jerusalem. The keynote speaker of the evenning was Rabbi Meir Lau, Cheif Rabbi of Tel Aviv, who mentioned that not only did Mrs. Fanya Gottesfeld-Heller honor the past in her dedication to Yad Vashem earlier in the day, but she is now also helping secure the future. Rabbi Chaim Mikael Gutterman, Director of Shuvu in Israel was MC for the evening. Over seventy distinguished guests and Shuvu supporters attended the event, as well as two Shuvu students who recently graduated.

Chayeinu volunteers and kids, as well as Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special counselors spending the year learning in Israel brought “Simcha Magic” to the Mamila Mall this week. An overflow crowd witnessed campers and their counselors singing and dancing to the “Waving Flags” song performed by the camp in Times Square this summer. Counselors, campers, and families then marched to the Kotel for Maariv with their flags, chanting and singing all the way. The evening ended with a festive Simchat Bet Hashoeva, complete with a deluxe barbecue, music, and the spirited dancing for which Camp Simcha summers are known.

VIDEOS & PHOTOS: Birchas Kohanim At The Kosel 5771

Tens of thousands of people converged by the Kosel on Sunday morning for birchas kohanim. While most came closer to mussaf, many made the trek to the Kosel in the wee hours of the morning for vasikin, including HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliyashiv, Shlita. The event was co-ordinated with police, border guards, MADA and United Hatzalah volunteers to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for the crowds. Besides for one isolated incident, B”H nothing bad happened. The main event was attended by the Chief Rabbis of Israel Rabbis Yonah Metzger and Shlomo Amar as well as politicians Nir Barkat and Eli Yishai.
