Gavad Eida Chareidis HaGaon Rav Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss Shlita on Sunday met with HaGaon Rav Nosson Kupshitz, a member of the rabbinate in Bet Shemesh, to join the Eida Beis Din.
Following the petira of two rabbonim, HaGaon Rav Brandsdorfer zt”l and HaGaon HaRav Halberstam zt”l and due to the lack of representation of chassidish and litvish Yerushalayim kehillos, the decision was made to bring new rabbonim into the fold.
Last week, HaGaon HaRav Uri Freund was appointed. Rav Freund is a rosh yeshiva and also a maggid shiur in Aish HaTorah.
It is being explained that the decision to bring Rav Kupshitz in has been a matter of some uncertainty, primarily due to his unyielding and uncompromising strict rulings regarding matters of tznius, mehadrin buses and his attitude towards the Zionist stream. Rav Weiss and his colleagues met to seek assurances that Rav Kupshitz will not issue rulings on his own, rulings that may be contrary to the line of the other members of the beis din. The rabbonim Shlita want to make certain that their rulings will be accepted by Rav Kupshitz as well, to avoid a situation in which he will come out with a lone voice, not accepting the Eida’s rulings on a various rulings including Shabbos protests and mehadrin buses vis-à-vis Egged.

He is not “expected to move to [the] Eida”.
He has been a Motz for many years. He is now being considered for the Badatz, perhaps – but he has been a Motz for years.
The Edah has about 70 motzim (rough estimate) in Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, Beitar Illit and Kiryat Sefer.
