The Seudah is held each year on the day that the Satmar Rov, Hagoen R’ Yoel Teitlebaum ZATZAL was released from the Auschwitz death camp. Btw,On the Picture above with the Rosh Yeshiva Rav Malkiel Kotler shlita is the Satmar Rebbe Reb Aharon,
On the picture above the person standing between the Satmar Rebbe R’ Aharon Shlita and the Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva R’ Malkiel Kotler Shlita is the noted Lakewood Askan R’Aron Burech (Butch) Epstein of Corner of Second Grocery and Butcher, R’ Butch is known for his boundless chessed here in Lakewood.
To me it seems like Satmar really likes Horav Malkiel Shlit’a. It’s like the realationship between Rabeinu Yoilish and Horav Aharon Kotler Zichroinam Livrocha. They are continuing the Mesora!
yeshivishaman, Well it seems very natural that the Head of the Biggest Yeshivish Instituition in America (BMG) should be close with the head of the biggest Chasidish Instituitions in America (Satmar)I also heard that the Current Satmar Rebbe R’ Aharon is spending most of the day in His Yeshiva which is rare for a Chassidish Rebbe, so maybe that is what R’ Malkiel is Machshiv.
It’s the Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Yoel who was in Williamsburg.
Rebbe Yoel Zt”l was released from Bergen Belsen on Kastner’s train after 6 months, not Auschwitz. No one was ever “Released” from Auschwitz.
