Maranan V’Rabanan Shlita have issued a call to talmidei yeshivos to act appropriately and with a modicum of caution during the ‘bein hazmanim’ in light of the tragedies that accompany the period annually, citing that last year, a number of talmidim lost their lives during hikes R”L.
A letter signed by Maran Hagon Rav Shteinman Shlita addresses these very concerns, a letter that also carries the signature of Maran Hagon Rav Elyashiv Shlita, encouraging yeshiva students to learn from the events of past years. The letter states “we have warned of the dangers of the time period in the past,” adding that since there is a week void of organized learning, this adds to the dangers involved in the ‘tiyulim’ (hikes).
The Gedolei HaDor Shlita commend those who adhere to their warning and distance themselves from the dangers, urging talmidim to exercise caution and not to abandon daily learning schedules which chas v’sholom leads to tragedy.

Or how about some safely organized tiyulim? I guess no one would be willing to give a haskama ;-(
