An IDF Golani Brigade soldier was shot dead Wednesday during a firefight with Arab terrorists in the southern Gaza Strip, the Jerusalem Post is reporting. The IDF said that during an operation “against terrorist infrastructure” near the border fence, the soldiers encountered fierce resistance as terrorists fired bullets and an anti-tank missile at the soldiers. The troops returned fire, killing one of the terrorists and wounding several others.

An initial investigation revealed that the Golani Brigade soldier was severely wounded by a single bullet during an encounter with the terror cell. He R”L died of his wounds en route to Be’er Soroka Medical Center.
