Akuperma’s remark about the primary goal chilonim is destruction is ignorant and a canard. There’s more Torah in EY than anywhere else in the universe. Kindly tell us about your yeshiva education if any.
Show some guts , and tell us what really bothers you about Israel instead of making stuff up for years.

    So, something’s starting to stink.
This is the 2nd thread here in CR about El Al… The other one started by some Yaakov or another. Expect more soon .
Smells like orchestration by somebody with an agenda.
El Al has nothing to worry about…. The mistakes will be taken care of and everything will be back to normal.
Those that want to carry on a fight are the minority, and they’re more than welcome to fly Air Jordan, Bahrain Air, Iran Air, Air Albanian , United, Delta, and carry on there.
They’re also welcome to finance their own Boeing outfitted with all pitchivkes .
Don’t worry El Al….. the guilt ridden Shomer Shabbat chevra who took the late flight knew what to expect at airports, yet they risked, and lost, are fooling nobody.
B’ezrat Hashem, I hope to take more El Al flights in the future and will encourage all to do the same.
You see, my parents taught me about leaving early from point of departure to destination on a Friday before the Sabbath….Or Thursday.. whatever.
They knew the deal, they gambled.. They lost.
Just do a favor and pull some seats out to give more elbow/leg room. You’ll lose a few $$$ initially, but gain new customers..
    You’ll be just fine.

It’s understood that some people have no but to travel Thursday eves . Yet, how many on this flight were in that category? And which of the 2 categories produced this vitriolic letter against El Al, lectures on shmiras Shabbos, lectures on how our grandparents sacrificed for Shabbos…. Fire & brimstone… An unfortunate set of circumstances happened, I’m not going to be talked into believing that El Al did something on purpose.. My gut tells me it’s not my dentist who flies back & forth every 2 weeks because of oarnassah.. Yiddish expression :

They weren’t going to arrest Mengele and put both him & Eichmann on trial… There were political considerations and back door discussions with other governments…
Don’t believe everything Harel or other retired Mossad ,or Shin Bet guys say after their retirement..
    It’s more complicated than that.

    Time for Truth,
They were not going after Mengele for other reasons,
It’s a bit complicated and long to discuss here…..Also had to do with Eichman..
Suffice it to tell you, that my mom survived Mengele, yet she was thrilled when little Yossele was reunited with his parents.
    Why?
Because you deal with a live and living child/parents first…. alleviate their live pain ,then you chase Mengele… Mom had her priorities right.
Besides…. Whatever the Zionists do will never be good, right??

Wow, what a thread. I didn’t read every post but there are some hilarious ones and others interesting.
I only want to comment on the Moshiach discussion.
If everything wonderful in the begins to unfold when he comes…. I’m aware if Shmuel’s dictum, but he he agrees that at a point the end of travails, eventual end of sickness, joy, everlasting geulah, etc…. then why in the world should I care who Moshiach is ? Let him be your rebbe, Yankel’s rov, the dayen of Petchetch…. who cares ?? Who even says he has to be a rov/ rebbe? How about Reb Fishele Feish my neighbor who is rumored to prahve Chatzos every night even though he’s no klei kodesh but punches a clock at the cheese factory M-F..
Moshiach is not the end game, it’the beginning of the end og galus and hisgalus Eloikus… Moshiach is a messenger not an Avoda Zarah…
R’ Avrohom, the Gra’s son on his peirush on Tehillim writes that’ll be Eliyahu Hanava that’ll do the kibutz… Radak in Navi writes something similar.
I don’t care if he comes from the dead or living, if he wears a spuddik or kipa srugah, if he eats veggie soup on Shabbas, Sephardi, Ashkenaz, I don’t care…..
    Just come already.

On the posuk ” Ani Hashem Rofecho” , Rabbeinu Bachaye explains that medication have side effects, and this posuk comes to tell us that the ultimate healer , no side effects, is
    Hashem.
However, we’re required to do hishtadlus and take doctors’ advice & meds, which Hashem created ( in plants, herbs, etc.)
and pray for a Refuah Sheleima….. meaning He should intervene and finalize return to health.
Not everybody can take it upon oneself to be on the madreiga of R’ Mordchle Nadvorna.
In his bio “Tiferes Mordechai”, a little story is told that he refused to heed a doctor’s advise when he once took ill, saying ” If Hashem won’t heal me, what good is a doctor? “

    CTLAWYER,
Couldn’t agree more community colleges which I referenced earlier. The highly expensive colleges to which I alluded are not necessarily Ivy Leagues. There are good colleges across the country, not Iveys, but who charge a fortune , and have high payroll for higher-up employees who are excess baggage.
I mentioned Sanders not only because of his free tuition idea, but he advocates for a socialist, if not, Maxist philosophy.
Lucky , your parents & all the other students didn’t have a Bernie around to hear him angrily denouncing our system while he & wife are multi- millionaires.
‘Twas a different era…. Diligence, family, hard work, for the most part no sense of entitlement, young kids working to help support family, etc.

Tehillim can have the power to PREVENT unfortunate happenings, and we don’t even have an inkling about it.
We take a Tuesday for granted after we’ve said Tehillim with kavanah….. we might expect something from Hashem to heed our prayers for a specific need, not realizing that a great good as happened …. possibly something bad prevented…. something good for the future if we have patience.

    Laskern,
College tuition has nothing to do with political parties. Universities are ripping off parents so that their personnel sitting in plush offices make high 6 – figure $$$$$.
There are good community colleges which are underrated, and there’s a young man with a website to draw students into apprentice programs to learn a trade.
In so many cases, a college degree these days is worthless.
Of course, if you like Bernie Sanders who wants free tuition, then the consequences would be a Socialist regime with its Venezuelan end. While we’re at it, why not give everything for free? Because a normal country can’t survive this way.
In old Eretz Yisroel, people worked, sold, crafted to make parnassah.. Even Leviim had a migrash. Poor people collected Shikcha, Peah…. It was a communist system not.
Nehama dichsufa is unfortunately today a Shalosh Seudah Torah.. An anonymous clerk in government sends checks. . All kinds of checks , so the recipient does’nt have to look the donor in the eye… There’s billions$$$$$ in abuse tgere also…
Not for nothing, in certain neighborhoods, I’m the only shmoiger neb who pays cash… Those in front of me on line, and those in back, are all waving plastic… Dayin Lachakima Birmiza. Our gov’t is generous with the needy, but the system is abused… Go Republican.. Stop robbing all pockets to pay Paul.

Laskern : They don’t care to support the poor.

The way to reduce the poor percentage is the Rep. Conservative, capitalistic system. Reduce taxes, deregulate onerous strangulation and revive work ethic …. The American dream, if you will. How have Dems helped the poor? By robbing the coffers to push social programs that helped nobody. How have they helped the poor in ghettos?
They’re only interested in votes and power.
May I ask you a personal question? You mention that you’re Hungarian. A 1956’er? Magarol ??
If yes, look at their old Communist system. Granted, that Hungarians were a bit better off than other Eastern bloc nations, but that’s only because the Soviets didn’t have as tight a grip on Hungary, as say, Poland.

    @ jack,
You’ve injected chunks of misinformation into your comments , but let’s focus on this :

“……Do they show concern for healthcare for all ? Even with pre-existing conditions ?
Do they want to take care of people needing SS, Medicaid and Medicare? Or take away their benefits?….”

You don’t think you’re getting away with this one, do you?

President Trump in every single one of his rallies clearly emphasized the pre-condition insurance….. Said it very s-l-o-w–l-y, in fact.. The thousands who lined up at 4:00 at the arenas heard it loud and clear.
Same with SS, Medicaid, Medicare…. Spoke endlessly during the 2016 about the broken Obama health system
( Nancy Pelosi……Pass it even if we don’t know what’s in it) and it was John McCain who
spoiled it…. Take away benefits? Where’dje hear that one?

But your style of questioning is eerily similar to:

Did you stop beating your wife ??
When did you last stop robbing banks?
Are you still sneaking vodka into the office?

The concept of Bechira itself is not as clear as it seems.
See Rashi on this week’s parsha concerning Lot’s daughters performing incest.
A jug of wine was already miraculously prepared in the cave for them, so that they could get their father drunk.
Yehudah’s encounter with Tamar has a similar issue.
I don’t recall the meforash at this moment, but he says that Yehudah was basically” pushed” into the relationship from Above.

I think you asked an excellent question.
On the surface, it seems that what He created was evil, but not necessarily evil people (reshoim), who, as has been commented upon , make the choices out of bechirah… or did He?.
We know that He created evil because it says outright that Hashem will banish evil in the future…. ie, the Satan or yetzer harah, which you must then say, that He created it .
The question is why did He create evil in the first place.
More to your point…. The Gemarah says that if someone has a lust for blood, presumably being born in the Maazel Maadim month, he should, in order not to give in to murderous temptations, become a shochet or mohel.. On top of that, the malach infuses the baby with character traits subject to G-D’s instructions, but not with Yiras Shamayim…. That is left to the newbie’s choice later in life.
Can the malach then also infuse the child with a sadistic , lusty, meek, tolerant, angry, artistic, etc. streaks?
We DO see people who have certain personality traits leaning in a certain direction, or bent, let’s say.
On top of that, until bar mitzvah the child has a yetzer harah but not yetzer tov. Why?
The damage to this world since Creation done by humans with evil minds & hearts is incalculable.
    Don’t know the answer.

    Ancient Jewish custom:

So what to do with the Mishneh in Taanis about girls dancing in the fields so that boys could gaze at them, and choose a bride. On Yom Kippur and Tu B’shvat no less.
In fact, the girls opened the conversation.. ( See Mishneh, Perek 4)
    Now there’s a Jewish minhag.

The question of a photo as an amulet, begs the larger question of amulets and kemeiyos in general.
Many kabbalists wrote kemeiyos as segulos which people wore, while other rabbonim were/are against them.
On a lighter side, the famous badchan Yankel Miller answered this way:
    What’s the difference between a ke’meiya and a meiya ( a hundred dollar bill) ?
A K”meiyah means it’s LIKE a meiya.. (K’ means like, or similar in Hebrew)
It’s not an actual meiya…. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t… A Meiya works all the time.

    GAON writes :
“Unlike other Zionists, Hertzel did not even care about Israel he was fine with Uganda..”

This is a half-truth perpetuated by anti- Herzl and anti- Zionists.
Herzl cared deeply about the plight of Jews especially after he watched brutal pogroms decimate Jewish communities. He was all in for Eretz Yisroel.. But at a point when he & some members of the Zionist Congress were frustrated by the British & Ottoman Turks because they quashed hopes for that to happen.
So he TEMPORARILY agreed to explore the Ugandan & Argentinian options..
He worked tirelessly for his people, had the support of even many orthodox rabbis and tried to alleviate their suffering….
I’m still trying to get info on what the Herzl haters did to help fellow suffering Jews..

I’ve been to the Alps…. Only cows with bells, grandiose peaks, shepherds, heavy German dialects, local women dress in national costume tznius’dig … long dresses, head scarves… No female tourists to be found who dress b’hefkeirus at all…
All wear long dresses and burkas…. Amazing place , this Switzerland…

“……Gaon and those admorim make a minyan when they go to Switzerland. Do they go to Peru to see machu pichu or to Greece to see the clear blue waters of those beaches?…..”

And if they did, what would be wrong with that? Somehow , I’m sure they’d get their minyan there… Who pays anyway???

“…..The natural wonders excuse is a cover up for bad intentions, by many lay jews….”.
    Boom…!!! Kindly explain “bad intentions.”

Rav Shamshon R. Hirsch, on the verse “Kol Hashem Behadar”:
The voice of Hashem is IN beauty, BE’hadar……. Whatever and wherever a person sees and finds beauty in this world, be it an idea, a dvar Torah, a flower, art. music, waters of Greece, geysers, Mach Picchu and hippos,…. Hashem’s voice speaks through it .
So, was the intention of your thread to bash Yidden and their bad intentions?
