Aries, I respectfully disagree with you regarding the need to learn and drill such needless information. It does have use. What if she grows up to be a teacher, to teach those purposeless topics! That’s exactly what the original teacher, who taught the teacher who taught the teacher who taught… had in mind! – A JOB!

OOMIS!!! They actually did that, some time ago. 2,000 years ago to be exact. There’s a gemarah somewhere that says in the time of R. Yochanan, Kedusha was so great, boy and girls would play together and not sin. So I guess if you consider us just as holy, it would be no problem. We’re holier than Rishonim, Achronim, Rambam, Gra, Chasam Sofer etc.

However I have a gut feeling that we ought to follow the plan and bidding of the Master Planner, ?? ????? ????? ???? – ????? ?????. I think one of the early poskim explicitly write ???? ???? ???? ??????. HaShem know the psyche of BOTH versions of humans, He knows best how to keep them healthy (and holy). Apart.

Sam2: If I may, I think it’s a pasok in the Torah ??? ??? ?? ???? ?? ?’ ?????. Even if one doesn’t look up in seforim (no nekudos there, can’t read), one must follow Ratzon HaShem. For whatever reason, He wants us to do His bidding with joy and zest. That’s doing the ENTIRE mitzvah.

Hello to you Moishy. I’d spend more time here, it’s just that lately I’m so out (like in ‘moody’, ‘down’ etc.) and my posting follows my mood. But you please come back on, and.. liven up this place!

Me too! I’m a bit (ok, a lot) down lately. Besides this place of late has become so sad and depressing. I would GREATLY appreciate someone who could lighten up here. I haven’t been posting, if anyone noticed, sooo much not in the mood. OK, that’s the word – “moody”.

Me? I’m totally against the bashing business, one way or the other. It seems that some just have a bad middah (anger, hate etc.), so they find excuse how to vent, and on whom. The barometer, in my humblekite, should be how they are ‘mekaneh’ and what triggers their ‘kanaus’. Is it like Pinchus (the Kanaai), motivated BY A LOVE FOR K’LAL YISROEL (as seforim point out), a burning zealousness to defend HaShem’s honor, or an inner unrefined, undomesticated anger?

Someone told me, he heard a child list numerous ‘reshaim’ whom we must hate, different views we must appose etc. – at age three! Said he – “See, this child learned sinas yisroel before learning alef bais”.

Is hating Zionists going to produce anything positive? On the other hand, same here with the Neturei Karta.

In my humblekite I believe an open dialouge (cool-headedness) is the ONLY way to get through.

cinderella: It depends on his relationship with his children. Generally in a warm, close household a father bears a more authoritative role, and balanced with a genuine warm approach, can prevail more. Again, part of the mitzvah of Tochacha is the way it’s given.

“.. We all have to answer to the law of the land.”

Let me try to fix that one. We all have to answer to the Ribono Shel Olam. Also, being that we’re in a foreign land, we follow its laws too, as much as Halachah permits.

    Avram (I think HaShem added a “h” to your name);

I just noticed your name in that Great Debate. I didn’t follow through the whole back and forth, it’s to time-consuming and mind boggling (numbing). It is not at all wrong to be respectfully passionate in an argument. It’s just that when it goes back and forth too many times (with no additionals), I call it quits.

I think there’s a ketzos somewhere in mishnaiyos somewhere else that’s matir. The Avnei Meluyim somewhere else tends to be more stringent, but we follow the views of the ketzos, he was a later posek (could be). Also look in the sugya of “Shor Shenagach” – see:

    http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%A8-%D7%A9%D7%A0%D7%92%D7%97-%D7%90%D7%AA-%D7%94%D7%A4%D7%A8%D7%94-for-women-only

Again – it’s a Shaila for Halachah responders, this should not be judged by feelings, emotions. Controversial – yes, in halacha, others (cute little me in the lead) should stay out.

Gemutlichkeit, goodwill, etiquette fly out the window in the face of halacha. Of course one must use proper judgement how to fulfill HaShem’s ratzon with the least slight to another being, but mitzvha and aveira considerations take precedence.

in reply to: question that will probably be controversial #841350

Why not? Because there is an Issur in the Torah “Lo sechanain”. I don’t know its full implications in halachah (I’m not a halachaic technician), but it certainly is an important issue. Let any of the resident Halachaic professors respond. Or a LOR.
