zeena.kastaMemberlet me reiterate- it needs to be very intellectual! she knows more pashat torah than the average guy out of smicha…thats what the chidon hatanach did to her.
zeena.kastaMemberoh and after seminary she hopes to get a secular education at university so she can support a family if need be.
zeena.kastaMemberok yungerman here goes. My daughter is an open minded, sweet, funny, yet serious girl. In Australia there is only one frum school that offers a proper year 12 so she goes to Beis Rivka even though she would go to Beis Yaakov if they had one here. My daughter is intensely intellectual. She won the national chidon hatanach for example. She is a little loud, leader of the pack, when she is given work she works harder than required. She is frum, davens everyday, does alot of chesed, but she will listen to non-Jewish music and her skirt will be on her knee for example. She is looking for an intellectual year with e”y life long friends, she needs to have a relationship with her teachers.

zeena.kastaMemberpeople wear suits pants because we are like the sons of a king (Zeba and zalmunna said that to gidon in sefer shoftim). jeans are more casual- not something a king would wear
zeena.kastaMemberWhat seminary would you recommend and why?
zeena.kastaMemberYes. I am most stressed about the matter. And I have written a lot of comments. Sending your daughter away from your home is hard, I just want to make the right choice. Some people have suggested Darchei Binah in previous topics and I want to know what you all think about the seminary?
zeena.kastaMemberThe most amazing book ive read is called The Coffee Trader by David Liss. It is about a yid Miguel Lienzo (spanish inquisition escapee), but hes not exactly doing the right thing. Like making business partnerships with the dutch which wasnt allowed in the 17th Century. He is put in cherem and in the end is left with nothing and everything. really amazingly written
December 28, 2011 4:37 am at 4:37 am in reply to: Want to know the difference between us and them? #841943zeena.kastaMemberThis is extreme. But no regular person likes to explain themselves. Yiddishkeit provides for rituals which have meanings, we can explain ourselves with in the parameters of religion, goiim cant and that frustrates someone when they are asked and they dont know why themselves.

zeena.kastaMemberayshoshee- she/he meant that the fact that the internet is blocked shows that the seminary doesnt have faith that the girls will surf the web appropriately.
zeena.kastaMemberhmm.my daughter is more intellectual. she likes to be challenged as well as challenge things. what we really need as a guide that summerises each of the seminaries.
zeena.kastaMemberhmm..thanks. darchei binah only gives one meal. Afikei Torah- it exists, what is it like?
zeena.kastaMemberCan someone describe the girl that will go to Darchei Binah?
