Its the strings on the Tallis that are the problem If there was no strings then it wouldnt be a problem, but it really wouldnt be a tallis either. It would basically be a blanket with black stripes

Its the Acid Reflux, Its not something deadly, you just learn how to eat with it. You learn to eat less and avoid certain foods that trigger it.

Certain very acidic foods are really bad and I try to avoid. Potato chips are a favorite of mine that I really cannot eat anymore. Chocolate is really bad and I dont eat it anymore.

Alot of the foods served at Shalosh Seudos fall into those foods that trigger it.

Friday night after a soup I need to wait a couple of hours before eating any other food.

As long as you know these things its not really a big deal

So a good Yid can go around with an Afro, t-shirt, torn jeans and no socks while speaking Ebonics to his friends who call him Tipper?

    Absolutly ,

And A Rasha can go around wearing a Bechasha, Streimel, gartel, Speak Yiddish and only eat hemish Foods, and never have learned secular studies

How you Dress does not make you a good or bad yid

using the example how jews kept away from secular influences in Egypt is really a bad example

If that was the case, everyone here would be committing a tremendous Averiaha s we are all speaking English

And dont tell me that Yiddish is a “Jewish lanaguge” its just a pigeon German, Its not a real jewish language. Modern Hebrew is probably the only real jewish language, but even that has outside influences

Covering the crib with a Tallis is not a good idea, the baby might grab the strings and choke. I dont care who came up with it, it is still not a good idea. This is being a chassid Choteh

I am guessing a wet nurse comes from the olden days before baby formula when if the mother couldnt lactate, they needed someone else to feed the baby. Again this is a silly chumra because if the baby needs mothers milk for health reasons (Some Babies cannot take baby formula) its being a chassid Shoteh over the health of the baby

Back to the OP- if by chareidi the person meant a strong adherence to halacha, keeping mitzvos without compromise, emphasis on learning Torah and emunas chachamim, then those things have always defined frum people from Sinai

Rav Schecter and Rav Lichtenstein ZT’L fit in that category, but they are not Charedi and nobody considered them Charedi

Without getting into details, I actually cannot eat alot of food at once and need to take decent sized breaks between meals. I also need to somewhat eat smaller portions. I rarely eat dessert for this reason

This time of year especially the break isnt long enough between Lunch and Shalosh Seudos, so I dont usually eat Shalosh Seudos (Dont tell me its a Mitzvah, Its no Mitzvah to get violently ill which is what happens, I generally cannot eat another meal if I end at about 2, until about 6 or 7)

Most people who seek a Rav or Rebbitzen arent going to Halacha but more counseling or advice. So the answer is for you, who is better at the job and that is more of an individual answer , Some Rabbis are better at the job and some Rebbitizens are better at the job. I cannot answer the question for you and nobody else can either as it depends who you are meeting

There are several kinds of Sushi, The fish isnt the problem its the rice, there are Sushi that you eat just the fish and no rice.

The point here is not Sushi vs Gefilte, In fact I know people who hate any kind of fish, the point here is not to claim you must eat a certain food “L’Kavod Shabbos” if you find it digusting. No normal Rav is going to tell you to eat it anyway because they should be smart enough to realize eating something you cant stand most likely wont get you to like it, but you will likely become repulsed even more from it (and perhaps shabbos in general if you associate shabbos with food you hate)

A food is not holy if you dont like it, Its disgusting. there is no inyan to eat something you find disgusting

I cant stand chopped liver or Gefilte Fish, I find it very replusive.

Someone here once posted that Gefilte Fish had a taam of Shabbos and Sushi was just fancy fish, I dont know where he got it or just made it up

The closure of the Volzhin Yeshiva is not so simple, secular studies WERE taught in Volozhin.

The closure seems to have been a combination of financial pressures and the Russian government wanted MORE secular studies taught, not that secular studies taught

The Yeshiva reopened in 1899 after being closed for 7 years

Spinoza is considered the first secular jew. Secularism was against the law in most of Europe before the Englightenment

While I put myself in the Zionist camp, my suggestion of Arad had nothing to do with Zionism. The OP wanted a cheap place to live that is warm.

Most of the places where jews live is expensive and the warm ones arent any cheaper

Arad is cheap and warm, there is nothing compatible to it anywhere in the US

The 17th and 18th century were turbulent times for Jews and Europe in general.

Jews suffered greatly from anti-semitism and poverty. The general peasants in Europe suffered similar problems. Revolutionary fever was spreadin g in europe following the French Revolution

The Shabtai Zvi false messiah was particulay damaging as people lost faith.

In general in Europe the Church was seen as corrupt and unfortunatly many people who called themselves Rav , did not deserve the title.

The response to these crisis were several, Some people felt the way to respond to anti-semitism was to get more rights and become more like the general Europeans and others to seperate themselves more. Those who wanted to become more like the general Europeans became part of the haskalah and those against became more charedi.

Charedism was not a response to the Haskallah, but rather both were responses to the general crisises in the jewish and European communities in general

Trump is not always the best role model in the area of not backing down.

And one has to be careful in a place with all kinds of people, you do need to be careful what you say to whom even to people who live lives against the torah. Better to say nothing. Remember there are always people watching that you dont even know about. Those people will get ideas based on your behavior and that might have negative consequences

If you are taking halcha from comments here, you need to rethink that. Most people take things here with a grain of salt, and you should verify anything you think might be important

Yiddish has no meaning to Sephardim, there is a language that Sephardim spoke called Ladino, however it has mostly fallen into disuse and most religious Sephardim speak Hebrew.

depending on your community, you might not even be in a position where it is an issue.

If you are chassidic , you likely married into another chassidic family and such issues would not likely occur. People are more homogenenus

Before praising the shidduch system, You are going to leave people out who are converts and BT’s. A Rav who was asked would likely know these factors. Before saying “Most of us would not want a heter” most would not marry a BT or a convert either where such issues are more likely to come up. Family relationships are more complicated when there are BT’s and converts (Doesnt mean they are bad, just more complex and those issues can usually be worked out)

    You forgot this

if a known molester attends your shul with your nieces and nephews (Or any other relatives), go right ahead. I will protect my family first and if it means I did an averiah, I will take that averiah. Better I take such an averiah than anyone become a victim.

notice the key words KNOWN MOLESTER

This is not a discussion of halacha in general and if one finds a Halacha “Wrong” should one disobey it

This is about a very specific “halacha” It was not a general statement

And I think most people got that point

Why are you equating keeping halacha with not turning over molesters??!!

Do you seriously believe that the Torah says not to turn over molesters?

There are some who claim its moser to turn over a molester to the authorities

Unfortuantly there are many cases where someone who has behaved inappropriately was either hushed up or moved elsewhere where he behavior was not known

I do not belive abuse and molestors run rampant in our communities, I dont think they are any more or any less than anywhere else. However I do think there has been a cover up and that has made it seem worse than it really is.

Unfornatly I do think many seem to think its better to protect the community from a “bad rep” than admit there is a problem.

The OP in this post is a perfect example of this thinking. That someone would really belive its a bigger chilul hashem to turn over a molestor than allow one to infest our community

And unfortunatly this thinking does spread to our leadership. And IMO if there are leaders who think this way, they must be replaces with leaders who want it gone

If you are interested in conversion, it is recommend that you move to a community with orthodox jews.

You might have to move to another country as I think the Bulgarian jewish community is very small. Budapest has one of the largest jewish communies left in Europe so that would be an option

    maybe this will explain better

If I told you there was a molestor (Assuming I had proof) around and I am going to tell everyone to keep their kids away from him , and you said to me Its averiah of LH to do so. I would say I dont care about this averiah, people need to know this person is a Rasha and a threat and keep your kids away from him. And if you want to say Such and Such a Rav, says its an Averiah to tell people, I would tell you, that rav is wrong and you need to get another Rabbi.
