I had to visit a Public School today to see a special ed class and there was a boy there with a Kippah

I think more and more people with special ed children are sending their kids to public school since the cost is so high

New York recognizes marriages performed in other states

All one has to do is take metro North or drive to Greenwich, CT where its legal (Its about 30 North of Borough Park) get married there and drive back or take metro-north back to the city and NY will recognize anything performed there.

Barnes and Noble you must hunt out this things and might not even know they were there unless you looked for them

Yes they have a special knife but if the guy needs to cut his bacon sandwich that he has for lunch do you think he would hesitate using this special knife?

Yes he would, if a health inspection would occur when that happend and he was caught doing that, the store would receive a heavy fine

I know this is not the case here, but there might be facts that we dont know about where the shul was forced to sell to a Buddist temple (Like some creditor esentially forcing sale to highest bidder)

I know of a few shuls that became churchs because they became bankrupt and were foreclosed by the bank.

Because the bank foreclosed the building had to be sold to the highest bidder. There is not way to stop this from happening aside from rasing a few million dollars to buy the building at the foreclosure auction

Alot of stuff is not easily observed out of town

Outside of maybe Baltimore and South Florida Cholov Yisroel is not available, MAYBE you will be lucky to get milk, certainly not Ice Cream or cheese

Kosher items in general are harder to get out of town. In NY Bread and Ice Cream are all Kosher, this is not the case out of town and some items kosher in NY are not kosher elsewhere.

You also might be subject to issues involving other religions. In Ny other religions sort of keep to themselves. This is not the case elsewhere. Ive seen bible quotes on buildings 50 ft high crosses. People talking about their savior every other word

I did a quick yahoo search and found this on a website

the kosher food is available at the following places

    Animal Kingdom – Pizzafari

Disney’s Hollywood Studios – ABC Commissary

Epcot: Liberty Inn – American Adventure

The Food in the park is already there. Go to the information area and ask where the Kosher Food is.

When you get to the restaurant , you have to ask to see the Kosher Food menu. They will then get it for you

Its all double wrapped airline food

I ate it at the magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom

It was Meat at the Magic Kingdom and it was Pizza at Animal Kingdom.

but there is Kosher food at Epcot and Hollywood Studios as well.

Disney is well aware that many people who keep kosher go to the park. You will see lots of frum people there. I even saw chassidim there

The reality is if you have a shul in an area with no minyan anymore (Like parts of the Bronx or Brooklyn).

You need money for upkeep and things like insurance (You dont want part of a building falling on someone walking by because the building was not taken care of)

You might not really have a choice, You have to sell the property (and the buyers you might like are not available)

I might suggest to see if you can get them to hang around Jewish religious groups on Campus so they can meet fellow religious jews at the college.

There will be a Rabbi at the group who can better talk to them in the college environemnt

Most universities in NYC have such groups (Even Colleges like St Johns or Fordham)

About a year after they married, she slipped into a Coma and never came out of it (About 6 months this went on for until it was over)

Instead of trying to surmise what a Halacha might be, Why dont you ask your RAV and you can also ask about eating Salad without Sharp Vegatables Like Onions and Radishes and no Dressing.

If you were driving and you had a child in the back seat who was complaing they had to go to the Bathroom.

And you see a well known Fast Food restaurant

Would you stop so they kid could go, or would you say Maris Ayin and keep going maybe to a Gas Station which bathrooms arent as clean as the well known fast food restaurants

I was told the Knife is not a problem because in Fancy restaurants the knives used for salad are not the same knives used for cooked stuff.

They have whats called a Salad Chef and the utensils used for Salads are not used for any other items

I asked the exact Shalia and I was given the answer, I was surprised at the answer as I figured the answer was for sure no you cant go.

You are welcome to ask a Rav and ask about the Salad WITHOUT Onions or Radishes (Something to do with the sharpness somehow the sharpness goes into the knife)

While I was given the Salmon answer, I am unwilling to do it because of complications, but I was given that answer and I double checked it

I am not sure going and having nothing including water is a good idea.

Some restaurants have minimum order amounts per person and you have to pay if you order or not (This might be stealing) or the waitress get no tip even though she probably asked you if you wanted anything more than once and you didnt order anything. She still had to set up your place and clean up after you

If you are unwilling to order the salad, I think the Coke or a Beer (If an appropriate situation – ie others are drinking a beer) might be a better choice

    FYI

While I am a little leary of doing this, A Major Rav told me and I had it Verified twice

If you get RAW SALMON (ONLY Salmon as its very indentifiable – No other Fish looks like it) and give it to a chef and have them double wrap it, they can prepare it for you.

Labruit is nasty and I dont like it, but I mentioned it anyway as it is an option, Its also expensive like $11 a box

The Meal Mart ones are somewhat better and can be eaten at room tempature

I have been in many parts of the US

Kosher Food Can be difficult to find, the best thing to bring is Labriyut or these Meal Mart Meals that are double wrapped and can be heated in a microwave

You will not find a Minyan in many parts of the US, maybe in Big cities you will, but it might not be anywhere near where you are staying, You will probably be staying downtown and the minyanim are on the outskirts and can be difficult to find if you are not familiar with the area (GPS would definatly help)

ANY parking lot (except city ones) are private property and the owners can let anyone or not let anyone park there.

The owners only want customers park there, they pay the taxes and upkeep of the lot and are responsible for anything that happens in the lot (ie someone gets mugged, the owners are responsible)

They are probably towing cars now as its summer and people think they can park there for free and go to the beach

Actually it was my place to size him up, I would do it for any friend in order to prevent a mistake, my mistake was not expressing my misgivings about the guy.

Many years ago I did have a female plutonic friend, There was no interst on my end of anything.

My main regret was when I met her (now ex-) husband. As a male friend I was able to size him down and figure out something really bad that maybe a female who was excited to get engaged could not see

I was able to size that this guy had an issue keeping a job. I kept my mouth shut and didnt say anything as I did not want to ruin her shidduch and unfortunatly I discovered I was right.

Driving through Flatbush and Borough Park, you can look into many of the house and see beautiful chandiliers and what seems to be remolded houses and sometimes even brand new houses.

This does not seem to bother people, but someone drives a Mustang or a nicer car, this bothers. Why is it ok to have a nice house and not a nice car.

Many people spend alot of time in their cars, commuting or maybe their jobs require them to be in their cars alot. If you are going to spend alot of time in the car anyway. Why shouldnt it be nice.
