There are laws of discrimation in this country and unless its a job where you can say no females are allowed (Like say a Rabbi or mens room attendent) you HAVE to allow females to drive the buses if they are qualified.

If the Buses are paid for with Tax Dollars by the city of Lakewood (as opposed to private funding by parents) even more so as the buses are contracted by the City of Lakewood who must obey the laws of the State of NJ and federal laws.

I have no connection to either of these institutions.

But I see lots of Lashon harah posed here about YU and YCT.

Just to be clear, this was not aimed at any specific institution.

About Negative info, yes it could be abuse, but not limited to. I was also referring to things like bullying in the dorms, Teachers who could really care less about the students.

Even such things as the institution is on VERY shaky financial ground (important to know when you are asked to cough up $20G in advance)

Telling the truth about a place that is bad, is called Lashon Harah

Teling a LIE about a place (Stuff that isnt true ) is SLANDER

Slander is NEVER permitted (At least that i know of)

and lashon hara is only permitted when halacha permits it. And I have no interest in paskening that.

    Syag,

Publishing houses are supposed to employ copy editors and fact checkers to make sure certain errors dont occur.

A proper copy editor can make a terrible book into a great book. Proper following of the rules of writing in english are very important.

If everything is Issur, you could never give an honest opinion of stuff.

I dont read novels, so I dont know what thread you are talking about, but obviously some are better than others and I am sure some are not good at all.

Ive read jewish books and some are better than others and some are unreadable. I have one book from a well known jewish publishing house that is unreadable.

I wanted to read the book and I had to stop after about 30 pages, Other people saw the book on my shelf and wanted to read it and they too gave up. What issur would it be to mention this book or the publishing house.

I think the publishing house should take proper critism and correct the errors in this book (Related to the proper way to write in english, Grammar, Spelling, Sentence , paragraph chapter development (It was paragraph and chapter development that made it unreadable)

Very few things in life are 100% good and 0% bad . its much more nuanced

Whats the point of the question being asked then?

If someone posted on this website that they were giving a Business Opportunity with a great investetor named Bernie Madoff and you knew he was a crook, wouldnt it be proper to say so.

Its the same with these Yeshivas’Seminaries/Camps

People are plunking down money and in some cases lots of it.

Wouldnt it be fair to hear honest reviews ?

Yes, in many cases it would be toeles and therefore muttar. The mods do not feel like researching each post and asking the appropriate shailos. Therefore, it will not be allowed. You may make your own judgments therefore about the quality of information which comes from these threads. And feel free to post this disclaimer in each one of those threads.

There are several “Mexicos” the Border towns with the US is where all the Drug violence occurs. Also Mexico City itself is not safe.

The Beach towns however is co-ordned off and most locals are not allowed there.

There isnt a drug violence problem in those places.

Also tourist places have flitered water so as long as you drink the filtered water you are ok.

The only way to successfully block internet is to self-block and self control

We were going to Bermuda and we had a box of Kosher Food. We got the special treatment at customs and the customs agent was about to confiscate out food.

I had another friend who went to Australia and the customs agent also wanted to confiscate his food.

Luckily being NICE to the agent instead of giving them a hard time, we were able to keep the food , my friend was not so lucky

Ask a Rov, Is Haagen Daaz Traif and ask a Rov if Bacon is Traif.

The answer you will get is Haagen Daaz is Kosher, but not to my (or your) standards, but its kosher and someone who eats it is not doing anything wrong. Not real Rov will pasken someone who eats Bacon is doing anything but an aveira.

Now this very well could be a political issue the Rabbanut vs the O-U (Read Modern Orthodox)

<em > Stores that continue to sell the ice cream could lose their kashrut license.

    [kashrut] [license]

Milk produced by non-Jews without Jewish supervision was forbidden by the sages of the Talmud due to a concern that it may be adulterated with milk from a non-kosher animal.

Although arbiters of Jewish law, in particular Rabbi Moshe Feinstein (1895- 1986), have permitted the consumption of unsupervised milk if supervised milk is significantly more expensive or unavailable, it is seen as a less ideal, and the kashrut authorities in Israel do not permit kosher certificates to be issued for products using unsupervised milk.

Others, however, still forbid unsupervised powdered milk.

But here, we are living in Eretz Hakodesh [the Holy Land]

I have been in London (Not Gateshead) and I remember seeing armed guards at the head of the Shuls in Golders Green.

I know others who have been to shuls elsewhere in Europe (Like Sweden) and if you want to attend services (even for Shabbat) you must register in advance as there are guards keeping people out.

To say Europe is safer to practice judaism than Israel is untrue, Ive been to bother and its ALOT safer being a jew in israel than WESTERM Europe (I’ve never been to Eastern Europe)

Granted he probably said it in Hebrew and not English, But in ENGLISH he is not saying HIS standards , he is saying KASHRUTH standards. Perhaps someone who can find the exact Hebrew quote and can clarify if he meant HIS standards (ie Chalov yisroel) vs KASHRUTH (ie Chazer)

Rafi Yochai head of the Kashruth Division of the Rabbanut when asked about people who liked Haagen Daze (I understand its $9 a pint in Israel) said Do you love G-D more than ice cream.

Actually most of the Fairy Tales are dark with people dying, stealing bad peopel, People starving etc.

They were written in a differnet time when life was darker in general and tough and the fairy tales reflected that.

Most of the Grimms Fairy tales are very dark, other than the famous ones even Snow White has a witch who wants to kill her.

Do you know the kids game “Ring Around the Rosey”?

Did you know the game is actually about the Bubonic Plague?

Ring Around the Rosey is a dark ring you get when you get the plague.

A posey was thought to be a cure of the plague

And Ashes Ashes we all fall down, means you die.

Charedim tend to be very isolationist. They do not mingle with outsiders much. So outsiders dont get much of an opinion of them.

One can say mingling with dati leumi, Chilonim and goyim is bad so positive or neutral exchanges are rare.

They ONLY time non charedim will generally mingle with non charedim is when they are forced and usually under negative circumstances , which makes it worse and unfortunatly does not help.

Would you have a positive view of a group of people who you dont know personally, but have them throw stones at you?

If there was some more mingling the outside world would realize the stone throwers are not the majority and just a bunch of crazy people, which people will accept.

What might be a better idea is Kosher food and services in more exotic locations.

How many frum Jews have gone to Yellowstone, Yosemite , Grand Canyon etc.

Ive been to those places and they are really cool, but forget about a minyan or buying kosher food (You have to bring food with you)
