The Iron Cross looks different than the christian cross.

It looks more like the Red Cross where all sides are equal. The christian cross has a stem.

Banning the Iron Cross would be like banning the Plus Sign

How many Yeshivas HONOR at their Dinner People who are Mechalal Shabbos.

Maybe yours doesnt, but many do.

For example I know that Robert Maxell got a very chashuv levaya when he was buried at Har HaZatim

Many yeshivas have “wings” donated by people who are not relgious.

If you think about it , Its alot worse than what YU did.

My Rabbi was online at the Supermarket during Chol Hamoed.

Ahead of him was an obviously poor woman who was using a EBC Card (Food Stamps).

She had a small amount of groceries , She then noticed that the Paper Towels were “Not recommended” by the Blumenkrantz book (Mind you this was a store under a very good hashgacha” But Blumenkrantz not to buy it because of Kitniyut in the Glue on the carboard tube.

So she switched brands to the “recommended” one by Blumankrantz and it costed more money. It raised the price of her bill to more than she could afford. So she took off an item of FOOD so she could keep the “Chumra” by Bluemankrantz.

There was an article posted here on YWN how people cannot afford Peseach anymore . Staying at home costs over $1000 or more.

Because of such “Chumras” as buying “Hemish” Dominoes Sugar or Mayim Chayim Soda as opposed to Cheaper Coke how much more important food do people NOT BUY for themselves or their kids.

i know someone very close to me who went to YU, and made some friends. one of the friends had some troubles in his life and stopped believing in Hashem and now the boy that i know is totally OTD

And its YU’s fault he had troubles in his life?

he probably would have gone OTD with or without going to YU

It was NOT Avodah Zarah, you need to step back a bit and realize not everyone is out to get you

Today people seek converts which means joining their religion (and pay dues to the hirearchy)

If the person had you do this and then took your name and number for “information” then id be concerned. Or maybe tried to give you a Flyer or Pamphlet.

During Succos we have a concept of Chassid Shoteh for example in cases where someone insists in sleeping in the Succah when its pouring outside.

Is that really any difference than someone who buys a bag of “Hemish Sugar” that is really just Dominoes

    if someone doesnt eat Gebrachs

And they eat a Piece of Matza, their saliva get on the Matza and gets wet.

    Or

If someone doesnt eats Gebrachs eats some matza and some matza crumbs remain in their mount (maybe stuck in teeth) they then take a drink of water.

The Matza in the mouth then gets wet…

zahava : “Do you think Kedem , Rashi or whatever wine your drink only hires frum jews?”

I hope so, otherwise it is Stam Yeinam!

kedem and Rashi are Yayim Mevushal. They do NOT only hire frum Jews. Ive been to the Kedem Winery and I can assure you most are not frum.

The Wines that come from Italy , France or California are not located in frum areas and while of course some of the workers are frum most are not and cannot be. Do you really think Jews Pick the Grapes?

The reality is unless you live on a deserted island, there are many things in life you will have to deal with and many you might not like.

PROPER Chinuch instead of banning everything is to teach the proper way to use tools.

Ive said I once worked at a well known Hasidic owned store. A customer walked in the store wearing a “PRIDE” Button and one of employees who was a yeshiva guy asked him about the pride button. The person said it was affirmative and the yeshiva guy said to him YEECH and walked away.

Proper Chinuch would have taught him to behave very differently.

What if someone is told the internet is ASSUR ASSUR and then gets a job where he must use the internet (Ie Selling stuff). The person might consider his job as bad as working at mcDonalds even though there is nothing wrong with his job.

And you wont have the debt. Most people who go to Stern or YU dorm (YU its fairly difficult to commute)

The price is the one thing you will have to consider. If it is $42,000 a year thats over $160,000 for 4 years.

Frankly I am of the opinion that , that is too much money and the degree becomes too expesive for the amount of money you will make

(Note I went to a secular college that now costs $5500 a year)

the seasonal argument is nonsense. Most businesses are seasonal of some sort

Ever hear of the term “Black Friday” (The day after Thanksgiving) , it has nothing to do with Thankgiving, December 25 or anything. Its referring to the accounting priciciples of Red (Meaning Losing Money) and Black (Making money)

Black friday is the first day retail busineses make money during the year.

Matza is expensive because people will pay for it, if people refused to pay the prices and say bought cheaper Machine Matza, the price would come down

The implications for the girl are severe and they will affect the rest of the family too. BY’s chinuch might even be questioned. For what gain?

    What SEVERE implications?

You quote that is assur, yet Rav Nissim Alpert was a Rav HaMachshiur there. If Stern was treif (Or any part of YU for that matter) would he have been a Rav HaMachshiur there.

The only severe implications is the tuition cost , I think its like $31,000 a year room and board

The point is there is alot more shmutz in Manhattan than there is on FB. A visit to Times Square will more than validate that.

Abercrome and Fitch another store is known to have a certain attitude. You can google it if you want more info.

I am sure there are people who have had issues with FB, but How many holy neshamas have travelled to Manhattan and felt the excitement and decided it was more exciting than Borough Park (Or Crown Heights in this Schools case) and was pulled in by it.

I know of ALOT more stories of people pulled in by the clubs, Music and what not of Manhattan than people pulled to sin by FB

There will be some opposition from the older generation because they did not learn from eBooks, but slowly this will change.

ANY Yeshiva who throws out students for Being Below Average Should get flack

in reply to: chofetz chaim bkln- white shirt policy #862614

In addition to the white shirt policy, chofetz chaim has instituted another standard: chofetz chaim will no longer accept bochrim into the high school who are not above the average; this applies even to boys who are currently in chofetz chaim’s own elementary school. This means that the lower level class for each grade will be cut and its students rejected from the yeshiva.

I dont know if this is true, but if it is, it is a TERRIBLE policy to institute.

ANY yeshiva that has such a policy should be chastized.

Just because you are not as smart as others doesnt mean you are any less than others.

Just because Al Sharpton is protesting doesnt mean its wrong, A broken clock is right twice a day.

Considering someone has been killed, Certainly minally a Grand Jury Investigation is warranted and if the Grand Jury sees enough evidence for a trial, so be it and if the Grand Jury says he is likely Not Guilty because of the Stand Your Ground Law, then that is law.

The Sanford Police department has had very little investigations so far and the Police Chief has taken a leave of absense because of it

It clear with the Zimmerman case, You dont seem to know the basic Facts

There is a law in many states that if an intruder breaks into your home you are allowed to use deadly force.

Many States including Florida has expanded this to Citizens Patrol groups (Like the Shomrim) who are not cops, but patrol neighborhoods. The Law is called STAND YOUR GROUND.

Zimmerman was on this “Citizens Patrol” and Saw Mr Martin wearing a Hoodie and felt he was a Perp and tried to “Apprehend” him.

Exactly what happend next is up for debate, except the Zimmerman killed Treyvor Martin. His defense was the STAND YOUR GROUND law.

Obviously it was a mistake and Martin was killed. If Zimmerman tried to Apprehen Martin and martin fought back it was Self Defense by MARTIN as you cant arrest someone for not doing anything.

Consider it like someone gives you some food and you eat it anfd you find out later it wasnt Kosher, Whose fault was it?

Obviosuly you are supposed to make 100% sure it was kosher before eating it.

This was worse because someone was killed, Someone was killed by mistake , There are no mulligans in murder.

And BTW the author of the Stand you Ground Law says this case does NOT apply in this case as the Stand your ground only applies AFTER you call 911 which Zimmerman did not
