I just wonder if those who support him would still support him had he come out with an “Alternative Lifestyle” and then demand we dont speak Loshon Harah About it

It is not right to use “Loshon Harah” as an excuse to cover up bad behavior especially where there is a good reason to know, this is not Loshon Harah for the sake of Lashon Harah

People do have a right to decide if they dont want to use niggunim from someone who committed averios even the goyim disapprove of.

If someone was a murderer , but composed beautiful niggunim, wouldnt you want to know and have the right to refuse to sing them

People just seem unwilling to accept the fact that he did cetain averios

I think it’s ridiculous to say that if someone is mekarev someone, they then have to support them financially.

I have actually seen quite a few people advocate this, which of course is nonsense, but there is a valid point there , if you are going to makerev someone you need to be aware of damages you might cause in their life, Not all BT stories have happy endings and make them aware of these damages and see if they are willing to accept them

I cant say I am the most meticulous when it comes to Mitzvas, and I am fairly leniant on what I expect from other, However I do expect people who are supposed to be better than me to behave better than me and not do things that I would never consider

ZD, why would you advocate following the goyim’s example? That’s a terrible idea.

If the Goyim do something right, we should follow their example. Appeals Process in Beis Din came from the Goyim

The woman went to the Wedding. The mother is no longer living but she did get some sort of inheritance. She has some sort of relationship with her brother and (Non-Jewish Nieces and Nephews (I dont know exactly what they are, She has no children of her own)) She needs the relationship with her brother , probably more than the brother needs her

There is a well known Movie Producer who was R’L jewish who was accused of doing similar Averios, He has become shunned by the world for these averios, surely we can follow the same example as the goyish world in treating some perpatratiors of certain averios similary

Not all Averaros are the same, Some Averios people are more willing to forgive than others

Most people are willing to forgive missing Davening one morning and not putting on Tfillin that day, Most people are also not willing to forgive (I am not saying anyone did those things, just using them as an example)

That was a simple one, I know of even a worse one, I know of a BT whose brother was getting married to a Non-Jew. her mother told her to attend the wedding (And be a part of the Wedding party) or else she would be cut off (This person needed her mothers help alot financially so this was not an idle threat, it was serious), Her mother never really liked her religious choices or the husband she married, so it was not something she could easily dismiss especially since she really needed the financial help

Its not all its cracked up to be , Lag Ba’Omer in Israel

I was there a few years ago, I was in Tsfat Erev LagBaomer and Haifa

I attempted to drive from Haifa to Tzfat and it was a nightmare many of the streets were closed as Meron was closed to only buses. It took forever to get from haifa to Tzfat as we almost gave up going to tzfat because it was so hard.

I then attempted to take a bus from haifa to meron and struck out there as well, It seems there is a bus traffic jam getting into Merom.

There wasnt much Lag B;Omer outsider of Merom and it felt like a regular day ib Both Tzfet and Haifa

I never said not to be Dillgent, I never said not to be careful, I am talking about things out of the consumers control which is a faily common occurance in todays society where the individual does not control the food

Ill admit I have always found it strange to say someone committed an Averiah by eating something not permitted because of events not controllable by the consumer.

Simply if something had a Hecher and it turned out the supplier was dishonest and cheated, Its not your fault for eating the non-kosher items.

In todays society we do not control the food, We are not farmers, cattlemen or anything related to the production and distribution of food. Unless a person is willing to farm and raise animals you cannot control outside events. Obviosuly one should be dilligent (Meaning its wrong to go into a McDonalds for example) but if one goes to a frum store and buys an item with an acceptable Hashghcha, one can reasonable assume its kosher and if its not, the Averirah should be on the person who made the mistake , not the consumer

So people in the NYC area can’t just go without beer until Shavuos?

I always hated that argument, likely written by someone who is not a beer drinker, Most likely you would feel differently if it was your favorite food or beverage we were talking about (For the record I am not such a big beer drinking, very rarely do I have one , but when I do its from one on this list and not one of the other ones not controlled by a Jew like Budweiser. Sam Adams is much better than Budweiser)

New York DOES require you to pay sales tax on items purchased out of state and there is a line on your income for it, however it is widely ignore

Most ecommece occurs on larger sites like eBay, Amazon, Wal-mart etc. those sites can collect the sales tax instead of the merchants who sell on them and that would collect the majority of the sales tax owed (B&H sells on eBay and Amazon so sales on those sites would be subject to sales tax collection, but sales on their own site would be harder to collect

If you read the Yaffa Eliach book Hassidic tales of the Holocaust there was a story of someone who went to visit his Rebbe after the War with his new Shiksa wife. Seems he was the Shamash of the community before the war and was the only survivor of his family

Unfortuantly many people lost their faith after the war (Many also kept it)

Escaping from the restrictions of having to follow halacha was the major attraction of zionism.

You dont have to be a zionist to do that, Many went to the United States or went to Big European Cities to do this

in reply to: Banning All Missionary Activity Inside Israel #1505587

Because such a ban would also prohibit all forms of “Kiruv”, which, as seen by the hiloni ruling class, involves socially undesirable Orthodox Jews conducting missionary activities aimed at non-religious Israelis. To most secular Israelis (who are atheists, and very committed to that belief), the Christian missionaries are non-threatening and more amusing and deluded than anything else whereas the frum “missionaries” have a serious record of causing many Jewish youth to go off the zionist derekh and embrace the “yoke of Torah and Mitsvos” (the “yoke” which the zionist anthem sings about being free of). We should remember that to frum Jews, who accept the existence of a creator, the Christians are at least “serious”, but to most secular Jews anyone supporting the idea of a “creator” or “ruler” of the universe is totally off his rocker.

Most secular are not Atheist, but rather NON-RELIGIOUS as opposed to Anti-Religious meaning they arent against reglion in general, jsut that they dont want to be religious

According to Joseph, if there is no will, then the first born Son will get double portion, the other sons will get equal of the rest and the sisters get nothing as does the widow (If there is none)

Legally no Rabbi or First born son can claim religious juristiction over this estate if someone else contests (Like a daughter) to the probate court

Unfortunatly Kashruth has become big business and there is alot of money involved. Dont kid yourself, money can and does corrupt. It has been a problem in kashruth since hechshers started appearing,

Because the OU is the largest name in kashruth , they have the most to lose if there was a problem. Many smaller hesherim do not have that name and if a problem happens, they can just close shop and re-open (and this does happen unfortunatly)

Most of us do not and cannot make our own food anymore. We have to leave some things to the professionals.

I leave the kashruth issues to the agency, if the agency is good I am paying them to make sure the stuff is kosher

If the agency cannot control things, then they need to get out of the Kashruth business, they are not doing their job. If a Plumber cannot fix the leak, he shouldnt be a plumber

With all respect to the Rav, If there is an issue with kashruth then the agencies need to take more control and do a better job. Most people really do not know very much about Kashruth other than symbols

You seem to be very upset about something, I can’t pinpoint exactly what. It’s also possible that over the years people started realizing that Yom Tov expenses are completely free.

And since it’s free, it’s important to get the very best you can afford.

By that token one should use ONLY Baron Rothschild wine at the seder and serve Kobe Beef or Turducken, with some Fois Gras, After all is all paid for
