Instead of guessing the Halacha, Why not ask your Rav.

the most likely answer is its assur because of Bittual Torah, not to diminish Bittual Torah, but not everyone can learn 16 hours a day and some need a diversion.

NJTransit doesn’t care if the event is public or private. They have an arrangement with the Meadowlands Complex to provide transportation based on the number of tickets issued.

The train is running so that point is moot, but Siyum tickets are very different than Football tickets.

The Siyum Organizers rented Met Life and dealt with the tickets themselves, as far as the meadowlands is concerned no tickets were sold.

For a Football game the tickets are sold on the open market via ticketmaster or NFL Ticket exachange so they know how many tickets are sold and approx how many people are going (There are always No-Shows)

The only way they could estimate how many people are going to the Siyum is the Agudah has to tell them and keep them updated on ticket sales

With a shiksa there is always a chashash who the real father is anyways.

DNA Testing, Maybe Halacha doesnt accept it, but the court who orders Child support payment and jail if you dont pay does.

Besides when the child is older many times you can tell who the father (or mother is) especially when the kid is a spitting image of the parent

There’s no such thing as “his non-jewish children”. They’re not halachically considered his.

Tell that to the court when you are ordered to pay child support or when the kid calls up Daddy crying to see him and Daddy says no because the Torah says you are not my son (or daughter)

You also have to make sure there arent any kids, he might be able to divorce a “Shiksa wife” but you cannot legally divorce kids under 18. There is child support that you have to pay and it would probably be a Chilul Hashem if someone who becomes a Baal tshuva refuses to see his non-jewish children because they are not jewish.

Cheap and near Minyan in NY area is almost impossible. The cheapest vacations is camping , you can get campsites for under $20 a day (I dont camp so I dont know exact amount), but Minyans are a problem.

There are very few vacation destinations near a Minyan, frum jews geenrally dont live in vacation destinations, even NYC which is a major tourist destination most of the minyans are in Brooklyn and not Manhattan (There are some Minyans in Manhattan)

You MIGHT find some minyans near Philly or Washington DC. But not in the tourist area. All the sites in Washtington DC are Free, but hotels cost a bit more

The only way you are gonna make that is a MIRACLE!!!

It would take a MINIMUM of 1 hour assuming NO TRAFFIC by car and you are in your car (as opposed to being in the parking lot) to get from Met Life to JFK

By Public transport which might be faster considering traffic, Best case about 1 1/2 Hours

At least 30 mins train from Siyum to Penn Station, 30 mins LIRR train to Jamaica and another 10 mins airtrain from Jamaica to JFK (You have to add in wait times as well)

Sam2: Yes there is a chiluk. But without a halachic source, it is not a ‘mechalek’. You must admit that it is at least very possible that Rashi (from Chazal) meant any form of non-Jewish entertainment even non-violent and non-salacious ones. Ergo, you have no right to create an arbitrary limitation on his words just because you can identify a difference.

Doing just that with no halachic backing is a slippery slope that can eventually lead to the Reform idealogy of rejecting any halachah that has no clear modern rationale – Rachmana Litzlan.

But this works in 2 directions as well. You can look in the opposite direction as well. to Quote Rav Shlomo Friefeld

“If the only way we can sell our children Torah is by forbidding everything else, then we are bankrupt.”

It does NOT take 365.25 days for the Earth to Circle the Sun, that implied 365 Days 6 Hours

It actually takes 365 Days 5 Hours 49 Min 46 Seconds for a solar year

That extra 11 Mins sounds like nothing, but over time it does add up, Its currently about an extra 2-3 weeks added

And its not a THEORY that the earth revolves around the sun, its a FACT ,

There are other proofs besides Birchas Hahmmah, Its all in the Math, For example the reason we can compute Eclipses because we know the exact location of the sun and moon. The Next Soalr Eclipse will occur in Israel on Nov 3, 2013 and the next one in NY will occur on August 21, 2017 (This will be Total in many parts of the US …I am looking forward to actually visitng a place where it will be total)

That the earth revolves around its axis in a 24 hour period is a seperate issue than the earth revolving around the Sun

Bircas Hammah is based on SOLAR not LUNAR cycle, While it was on Erev Pesach in 2009, it was not in 1981. If if the solar system is Geocentric the math doesnt work, It only works if its Helicentric.

Bircas Hahammah is supposed to occur on the Vernal Equinox however because of mistakes in the Calender The jewish Calender is now about 2 weeks off, If it was a Geocetric it would occur on the Vernal Equinox

FYI Just because there is something said on the internet doesnt mean its true, so just because there is a website that claims the solar system is geocentric doesnt mean its true

It not about the Shower or the jeans. There are many things that are protrayed as Halacha , when they are actually Hashkafa, Chumoros etc.

Alot of things that he is “Breaking Halacha” might even have some Heters (maybe WEAK Heters, but they have them and you can rely on them)

the problem is some kids are told some things are Halacha and when they find out its a chumra or Hashkafa its starts to break the whole system down, The kid finds out the Shower is a Chumra it doesnt take much of a Kal-Vchomer to say maybe Shabbos is a Chumra as well.

One must be careful with Chumras, Ive seen many people here say Chumras are how people show how much they love Hashem, but it says somewhere , What was Adom Harishons sin, It was he made an unnessasry Chumra, Hashem told him not to EAT the Fruit, But he told Chava his Chumra , not to TOUCH the three, Once the Snake threw Chava against the tree and she touched the tree and saw that nothing happend, everything else broke down.

This is not for or against Chumras and Hashkafa, One must be careful about these things, If a Chumra creates a positive then its a good thing, but if it creates a negative feeling, then its a terrible thing. It is a fine line sometimes

And where do you have PROOF that the solar system is geocentric, There is PROOF the Solar System is heliocentric.

And one of the Proofs is ironically Bircas Hahammah. Birchas Hamahham has to occur in the position the Sun was in on the first day of Creation, it also must occur on Tekufath Nissan which is supposed to be the First day of Spring. Tekufath Nissan is April 4.

However because of a mistake in the jewish calculation of the Jewish Calender. Hillel II calculated the Solar Year as 365 Days 5 Hours 55 Mins, The Actual Solar Year is 365 Days 5 Hours 49 Mins. Over 2000 Years those extra 6 mins per year have added up to about 2 weeks.

Since April 4 is the halachic Spring, many times Peseach actually occurs in winter due to this error (I dont think it ever occurs before march 20-21 which is the correct date currently of the Vernal Equinox

There are definatly opinions that allow daily showers for the 9 days for Non-contruction workers..

But it does show a bigger point, there is a different between Hashkafa and Halacha, and both you and WOW seem to want to make a stink over Hashkafa (Not to say hashkafa isnt important , it is, but sometimes you have to pick your battles)

Pick the battles over actual Halacha, not Hashkafa (at least for now)

if your son wants to take a shower daily, there is definatly room to allow it (Probably more than you realize)

Frankly I am hopeful for WOW’s son, They do live in Israel and I do belive the army will straighten him out, He will likley marry a Jewish girl and WOW will have beautiful jewish grandchildren. While it might not be the life she wants, even the worst case scenerio wont be as bad as it could be.

However I am NOT hopeful on HMOM’s daughter, this is more serious and there are issues that I am not sure she even thought of, Wow’s son is 16, still a child (At least here in the states) Hmom’s daughter is 19 and she has no legal control over her (Yes she could legally throw her out, but I dont recommend it)

Hmom said her daughter wants nothing to do with jews and only hangs with goyim, you should not be concerned with frumkite at this time. If she hangs with goyim especially goyish guys she might be doing things that nobody approves us. Things that can lead to unwanted diseases and unwanted grandchildren

Not complete conjecture, I know how to run an event properly, it takes months to plan.

You have to get the venue, you have to sell tickets, you have to get an agenda, you have to get entertainment (In this case speakers) you have to prepare the venue.

A successful event requires proper planning.

You try to run an event for 80,000 people, its not easy. especially with high ticket prices you need them to come home satisfied and want to come again.

The Train to met Life Stadium only runs for special events, The Siyum is officially a private event. The same holds true for the buses as well, You will need to call NJ transit. Its possible the Coach Company Bus will run from the Port Authority.

Hopefully the Siyum organizers contacted NJ transit , notified them about the Siyum and asked if some public transit could run (At least the buses)

if All else fails, take the NJ Transit to Secaucus and take a taxi, its only about $10 to Met Life and I am sure you will easily be able to find others to share the ride with you

Things were bad for jews in Europe even before 1933. There was mass starvation and pogroms, Why do you think Jews came to the USA. Why was it called the Goldena Medina. People needed incomes.

And What if The Gedolim said, NYC is the largest Jewish Population in the World (And this was in 1900) Lets send some of the biggest Gedolim there to start Yeshivas, to run shuls etc. There were already over 1 Million jews in NYC in 1900. How many yeshivas could have been built, How many Neshamas could have been saved.

And Not only that , when the Holocaust DID occur, they might have been in a better situation to lobby the government to help the Jews, Instead Steven Wise was Roosevelts right hand man and he had his own ideas (as did several Jews in Congress at that time)

He is not the one who invited him. I do not know when the invitation was offered, accepted, and announced, but I didn’t know about it until a couple of days ago. You’re right, though, that there was lack of aforethought in inviting someone controversial.

I dont know this for sure and I have no evidance for this, But I am sure a list of possible speaker was thought about 6 mnonth or more ago. You dont plan a major event like this on the fly, You plan it properly. You also have to see if speakers can even attend or if they want to attend (IE many Charedi Rabbis wont leave E’Y” for any reason)

If a possible list of speakers was drawn up, and If the Vizitzher Rebbe wanted to see this list, I am sure if he asked, they would have let him see it. He could have known (Or maybe he even DID know) Months ago about the speakers.

BTW While I am actually personally opposed to wearing a sports team in a Kippah, I would NEVER tell someone to remove it. The people I know who wear them , if something is said, they might not come back to shul, you have to know who you are telling this too before saying its Kiddush or Chillel Hashem to wear that.

When someone goes to shul wearing sweatpants and a tee shirt with his favorite rock band logo, it is not a kiddush Hashem.

When someone has sports team logos painted on his kippah, it is not a kiddush Hashem.

When someone walks out in ripped jeans and a messy tee shirt, it is not a kiddush Hashem.

When people wear clothing that leaves much more uncovered than covered, it is not a kiddush Hashem.

Belive it or not I agree with you, But there is a difference between wearing a rock b and T-shirt with ripped jeans and wearing a Polo Type Shirt with khaki pants.

It seems people are saying you either wear white shirt and suits /tie or a T-shirt and ripped Jeans. and nothing in the middle

    There is a middle ground.

BTW I know people who have blue collar jobs and wearing a white shirt with Suit pants is not a good idea, they will get real dirty real fast and they are not appropriate attire for these jobs.

And its not enlightend or Kiddish Hashem to realize that not everything is either or, most things are in the middle.
