You have to prove you are a “Jew” (Not a Halachic jew, just a “Jew” meaning one jewish grandparent or converted (Reform and Conservative count for this). They have a system to figure out who is a jew or not

The halacha is Dina D’Malchus Dina and if you disagree, Please tell me what Halacha you broke by going through a Stop Sign or parking in a “No Parking Zone”. If the law says you cant park there, then its an Averiah to park there and if the law decides the street is a one way street, its an Averiah to go down it the wrong way (Even if you are late to Minyan)

It is true that abuse can occur in the home, However Im not sure that seperating siblings or parents from children as a rule (as opposed to an exception) is such a good idea

There are plenty of people who jumped OTD or who are teetering on that level (Nothing to do with “Lifestyle”) and KIruv people have to deal with them too. Sometimes they will agree to go to a Shabbos Meal on the condition they drive, many times Kiruv people will agree to this because they know a spark is needed

And while Im sure Rav Wolbe said this, but thats not always the best approach,

Normative Halacha prohibits even inviting irreligious Jews to a Shabbos meal if their attendance would require Chillul Shabbos; how, then, can we condone taking this position, whose raison d’etre is לטהר את השרץ?

Chabad does this all the time, At many Chabad houses most if not all the people drive to it and the Rabbis knows it (They ask where you live and when its a 30 min drive, he knows you drove there even if you didnt tell him)

Anyone dealing with an At Risk comnunity is going to have to deal with difficult things, I suspect thats why its not done in certain communities

A simple example is someone comes to a kiruv event with his non-jewish wife and kids. While some here are going to say the kiruv professional needs to tell the man to divorce his wife, thats likely not going to work (Especially if they have been married for a while and there are kids)

“Over 25 years is a long time to wait for the “immediate redemption” as the Lubavitcher Rebbe used to say “now”! How much Yiddishe suffering has there been in those years?”

I really dont think people should use that argument, Jewish history has been frought with much dispare, from The crusades, to explulsions, to poverty, to discrimination to Gas Chambers. We dont live in anything like those times

I dont think most frum jews REALLY want the Geulah. What percentage when Moshiach will come will refuse to sell their business or sell their homes at a loss, Buy an overpriced El Al ticket or C/V be forced to sit next to a member of the opposite gender on that flight and hold up the plane for its return

In response to another poster, today we live in an era of “optional religion” meaning people can observe or not observe (In this world, not the next world) The enemy is no longer the christian religion, but no religion and while many would rather have a smaller population but with greater observence, I do not feel that is the best plan. I cannot tell you how many people where turned on by this PSAK, but I can tell you alot of people were turned off

I have never heard that AISH was leftist, however if you are going to do Kiruv, you have to know how to talk to people. Giving them a schmooze by Rav Avigdor Miller is probably going to backfire for most people

Exactly why he took this position I do not know. I am only guessing here

Perhaps its better to keep a little contact with these people so they can do Tshuva than cut them off so they will never come back, Tough Love doesnt always work and many times its backfire.

May these people do Tshuva for their averiahs

There was no evidence that any of the 3 werent Jewish.

    R. Shach, R. Eliashiv, R. Shlomo Zalman and R. Moshe all ruled that they need to undergo a full conversion – with new blood – in order to be considered Jewish.

However Rav Ovadia Yosef ruled differently, He rules they were 100% jewish

If you know anything about Rav Yosef, he does not paskin by “Political Correctness” . he has lots of Pskaks that “American Liberals” do not like. He certainly has used terms “American Liberals” did not like

The Ethiopians generally fall under the Sephardic sphere (I think they were close to the Yeminite community) so for this matter a Sephardic Shitta is the one to follow. had this been a Russian incident, One should follow the Ashkenazic Shitta as they are Ashkenazim (At least most of them except for the Bucharians who are Sephardim).

The Chilul hashem has been because the narrative has come out that these people are black and Rav Yitzchak Yosef has called it racism. At worse they are Safek Jews and not Goyim anyway, Even according to the Eidah they only need a Giyur L’Chumra (However some of the people involved already had one and were Halachically jewish)

I’ve heard in the name of the Steipler that the Sanhedrin would have
forbidden the use of cars because of the danger they pose to life.

Please provide actual evidience he said this, unfortunatly many people say things in the name of Gedolim that the Gadol never said

I would like proof of this and even if its true, Even if jews dont drive, Non Jews do drive and there is still the danger of being hit by a car driven by a non-jews, the Sanhedrin has no power over them

If someone grew up speaking Yiddish, then it has a certain “Ta’am” to it, However if your native language is something else, your “Ta’am” is most likely that native language.

If you did not grow up speaking yiddish, it is about as beautiful as Chinese

Going to Israel is pretty expensive, Plane tickets are about $1000 round trip, Hotel there are a minimum $100 (and thats for very basic , they are usually more) +food , transportation etc

A 2 week trip to Israel can cost you $7500 or so for a family of 4..Is that Luxourious?

The Chasam sofer also Poskened that Droshot should only be given in Yiddish, which made perfect sense in polygot Pressberg (Bratislava) where jews spoke all sorts of language as part of the Austrian Empire and Yiddish was the only common language

It makes no sense in either Modern Day America or Israel where the common language is English or Hebrew (Depending on the country) and most of the people probably dont even speak or understand Yiddish (And probably in Many cases, the Rabbi doesnt speak Yiddish either)
