    laughing quietly to myself

it is a truthful answer to rotfl and lol ,since no one actually is rolling on the floor, and they very likely arent even laughing out loud.

in reply to: Going to Future In Laws for Shabbos #805112

i think they expect you to bring something, you family doesnt.

however, if you dont bring something and explain you “really wanted to bring something but family doesnt bring gifts when they visit family and were almost family”

    that might work

    or

they might think you are really cheap and a smooth talker as well

in reply to: Going to Future In Laws for Shabbos #805110

    popa

“future” in-laws is a very different relationship than in-laws

bring a nice bootle of wine

its not really appropriate to bring wine in a small boot. leave it in its original bottle and the hosts can transfer it into a boot of their choosing. (although i never heard of this custom, and it doesnt sound very appetizing)

80: what is the point of this thread?

    i dont know

    i didnt start it

but i really dont know how we got from shadduchim to discussing xian clergy

in reply to: can i date a girl without Shadchan????????/ #808639

im not sure its appropriate to be discussing nuns on this website

in reply to: can i date a girl without Shadchan????????/ #808635

i dont think Chassidim have a Mesorah going back before the Talmud

in reply to: How can I change my attitude #804507

Based on these three pearls from Chazal, we see the importance of greeting another whomever it may be.

not everyone poskins with such a broad stroke, and not directly from Chazal, as you well know.

it depends on whom and on the circumstances.

in reply to: How can I change my attitude #804506

could be a sensitivity, a personal feeling, or even a fear. could be a kabalah or gezaira they set up for themselves because they have a certain weakness. many other similar explanations. and they didnt walk out because you were in it, they walked out because a woman was in it.

do you take it personally when all the birds fly away and the squirrels run when you walk by? theyre running from a person, not from you.

in reply to: can i date a girl without Shadchan????????/ #808617

the shadchan can be your friend, her friend, a brother, a stranger, a second cousin once removed, etc.

in reply to: Wilson Disease #804433

    theres nothing to be moichel

    you misunderstood my intentions

very easy to do in a forum

i do it all the time.

in reply to: Wilson Disease #804431

    i never diagnosed it

i have some very limited experience with it, since it has some ocular manifestations, but it is not a common disease

i have no experience with treating it but apparently it can be treated very successfully with chelating agents. i never heard of bipolar disorder being a side-effect of the treatment but as i said my experience is limited.

in reply to: Wilson Disease #804428

    okay

those with personal knowledge, go ahead

in reply to: Wilson Disease #804426

    again a mamin:

    why do you ask?

in reply to: Wilson Disease #804425

    kol

    nobody is snapping

and in order to answer the question appropriately we need to know why he is asking.

was he just recently diagnosed, or someone he knows.

the cr may or may not be an appropriate venue to dicuss this, depending on how personal the issue is

but thanks for donning l’kaf zchus, especially considering its Elul

in reply to: Free Prescription Glasses – VERY Limited Time #806997

the same way that drug companies can charge $140 for a bottle of eyedrops that costs 23 cents to manufacture, and another 6 cents for the bottle.

theres nothing stopping them if people are willing to pay (in the case of glasses) or have no choice (in the case of Rx)

yes i know there are other factors such as recovering research costs but thaose are generally a drop in the bucket compared to the retail cost.

in reply to: Kohen marrying a half jew????????/ #803682

while that is possible by a very large stretch of the imagination, do you think that highly unlikely possibility warrants a condescending comment by a fellow poster as to how sad this discussion and everyone who has participated in it is?

in reply to: Kohen marrying a half jew????????/ #803681

Someone was asking for something there!

yes michael was asking an interesting question as he always does, you thought he was asking us to give him a psak regarding this question being nogayah to him?

you assumed he is a Kohen and is planning to marry a Jew with a goy father and came here for our psak din?

in reply to: Keeping on my Trousers #1051110

aries is a certified “life coach”

in reply to: Kohen marrying a half jew????????/ #803679

what is really sad is holier than thou posters who have to interrupt every Halachic discussion with comments about how the discussion is not appropriate.

ny100k: do you see anything here other than a discussion of Halacha?

can you please quote the relevant passage from the above posts asking for a psak or even advice!?

do you ever discuss Torah or Halachah matters with your friends, or only with Poskim and Rabbaim?

in reply to: me…? working with kids at risk…? :O #803518

i guess then it depends on which frum community

the frum community i am a part of defines it as i said.

what you are referring to is off the derech, or going off the derech

in reply to: me…? working with kids at risk…? :O #803516

    no

the usual meaing of that phrase is as r kaufman stated.

what you say is true but that is not how the term is generally used

it has nothing to do with mr kletzkey

when one sues everything is in the hands of the lawyers

and when lawyers sue they sue everyone possible.

i was once named in a suit actually against someone else

when the patient came to see me for a checkup i said you are suing me why are you coming to see me

she said what are you talking about? im not suing you

she called the lawyer. he was very upset but was forced by her to drop the suit against me

the band is called eight days or eighth day or something like that.

if you are overweight then your belt is sitting on top of a slope (curving inwards ) and by the laws of physics will tend by the force of gravity to fall.

    options:

    1. lose enough weight that your abdomen is approximately flat

    2. suspenders

    3. wear your belt high enough up to be above the midpoint of the curve (“nerd” style)

    4. live with it

in reply to: How Are We Going to Post in the Hurricane? #802132

    good advice

we will have our SWTF (severe weather task force) out in full force. they just finished their training of navy seals for this year and should all be available. they will be on the lookout for any corked bottles. if you could please paint the bottle a bright orange it would help. thank you for your cooperation.

in reply to: Is Irene Coming Soon? #802390

“NYC, Mid-Atlantic Brace for Irene’s Violent Strike

Irene remains on a path that will take the hurricane dangerously close to, if not over, the mid-Atlantic coastline and New York City Saturday night into Sunday, posing a serious danger to millions of people.

Irene could be “once-in-50-year” hurricane for the Northeast.

The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center is confident that Irene will strike the Outer Banks of North Carolina on Saturday as a strong Category 3.

Beyond that point, Irene will track extremely close to or over the mid-Atlantic coast and New York City before plowing into western New England. This could mean the worst effects from a hurricane in the region in 50 years.

Irene is expected to track near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and Delmarva coast Saturday night, then could pass within 30 miles of New York City on Sunday as a weakening Category 2 hurricane.”

    a quote fom weather.com:

Our projected path map below continues to paint an ominous picture by pointing Hurricane Irene right in the direction of the East Coast this weekend. The latest computer model guidance confirms this threat and the first hurricane watches have been issued for the United States.

The potential is real for the strongest hurricane hit on the Northeast in at least a couple decades this weekend!

    measure the viscosity

put a little more liquid in and gauge the meniscus

cool both, the salt will come out of solution, that might be the same as a prior answer i gave.

    measure the osmolarity

in reply to: The Riddle Thread…. #1069758

see how well it floats objects

measure the specific gravity with a urine dipstick

put a goldfish in both, see which survives

    see whick conducts electricity better

weigh both on an extremely accurate scale (im not sure about this one)

heat it up or let it evaporate and see if there is a residue of crystallized salt

put a cathode and anode in it and see if chlorine gas is released

put salt in both and see which one precipitates out first

    thats enough im busy
