YW Moderator-80Member
no smartcookie im not denying that youths feel resentment that many things are assur. nor am i denying that are some people who look down on others who do not follow their opinions of what is assur or muttar.
YW Moderator-80Memberthat doesn’t mean that when someone yells “shorts are assur” that I have to re-examine it every time.
as i said:
if it is something that i didnt realize was actually possibly assur,
YW Moderator-80MemberAt this point, they are no longer machmir on themselves, they are (in essence) saying that if you do so, you are doing something wrong. *That’s* the point where I stand up and begin protesting.
i guess you are more righteous than i, or perhaps a bigger kanoi. i personally dont have the slightest inclination to “protest” when my inference from someones public statement is that i am doing something assur.
of course if it is something that i didnt realize was actually possibly assur, i would certainly be grateful for their statement. its always valuable to keep reexamining ones deeds.
but if what you mean to say is that you feel a need to protest statements that are Sheker. then im all with you
YW Moderator-80Memberokay if it bothers you that people tell you are doing something wrong, while you dont agree, fine. makes sense.
i dont seeing you becoming incensed and ranting at their opinions. those that do are in MY opinion probably insecure about their position.
YW Moderator-80Memberthank you for the explanation.
no more posts on this matter please
only on the subject.
thanks

no one is being anything but calm
as far as “who cares?”
i care
no one likes to be deceived and lied to.
which may or may not be the case here but there are strong grounds for suspicion.
YW Moderator-80Memberno one is forcing anything upon you, do what you wish.
people are expressing their opinions about what they feel to be right, as did you.
some may feel that it would be correct for everyone to follow their opinion, some may not, but no one is forcing anything upon you.
you need to be strong in your convictions and not feel threatened by opinions that differ from yours.
when someone becomes incensed and defensive of opinions that are more machmir, it usually indicates that they feel in themselves that maybe the other opinion is actually correct and they are frightened of that thought. i dont mean you, just in general
YW Moderator-80Memberthat definition refers to anything that is bland. it is derived from the nature of the flavor. it is not related (necessarily) to those that like bland flavors.
ex. the word spicy can refer to a flavor, or to other things that share the characteristics of that flavor (in a mushul way). it does not mean that people who like spicy foods are “spicy”.
bland people can like spicy foods.
and spicy people can like vanilla
YW Moderator-80Memberi agree
YW Moderator-80Memberbecause for a boy it is a huge milestone in the visible conduct of his life
for a girl it is more of an invisible technical milestone
YW Moderator-80Memberyoure right
in todays upside down, mixed up golus where there is no clear right or wrong, children can easily become confused.
YW Moderator-80MemberWhat happens when they hit their younger siblings? Why is it ok for you to hit them, but not for them to hit you?
Emes is Emes
a parent child relationship is not the same as a child-child relationship
parent and children have different responsibilities
different priveleges
different roles
dont feed them untruths
explain to them why.
YW Moderator-80MemberEmes is Emes
men and women are not the same
they have different roles
different responsibilities
different privileges
dont feed them untruths
if they feel bad about a difference explain to them why
YW Moderator-80Memberokay
i cant live with myself
agent actually voted for vanilla
YW Moderator-80Membermerriam-webster 2nd definition of vanilla:
2. lacking distinction, plain, ordinary.
YW Moderator-80Memberyes ill go back to CMC
YW Moderator-80Membervery true yet often misunderstood distinction, squeak
YW Moderator-80Memberthank you!

YW Moderator-80Membermy first name is mo, short for morris

YW Moderator-80Memberi believe we have a winner chocolate mint chip. i think it was mentioned thrice at least.
as far as the worst flavor i dont think anyone can compete with dead skunk delight.
YW Moderator-80MemberI’m willing to bet you became a baal teshuva quite a number of years ago.
you would win the bet
YW Moderator-80Membersounds delicious, and healthy
YW Moderator-80Memberas i said you made a good point nevertheless as far a bas mitzvah, as far as im concerned, tzaruch iyun
the “talking” thing was a joke. you made a typo and wrote talking instead of taking.
YW Moderator-80Memberim a ba’al tshuvah. I wouldnt say i am proud of it, it was not my doing. Hashem did me a great Chesed by reaching down and pulling me up. i will be forever grateful.
i generally dont think of the the fact that im a baal tshuvah. i dont feel anyone thinks of me any differently because of it or is even generally conscious of the fact. where i live i never sensed any kind of negative feelings against baal thsuvim or even any sense that anyone was interested in knowing who was a baal tshuvah or not. its a complete non issue, at least among the large number of people i know.
YW Moderator-80Memberthat’s a Gemorrah, do we paskin like that today?
also i dont recall that he has to talk with her all the way to his house, i thought taking her was sufficient. do you have a source?
YW Moderator-80Memberthank you
yes i meant nesuin of course
YW Moderator-80Memberim not so sure erusin can be done through schlichus though.
you seem to have a good point though, tzoruch iyun

“drag in” Introduce unnecessarily or forcefully. For example, The defense tried to drag in every scrap of evidence, relevant or not
i dont think the defense actually dragged in the evidence. there are other commonly used meanings to that idiom as well.
YW Moderator-80Memberi do that a lot
YW Moderator-80Member“P.S. after the word “overreact” you put three of !’s- thats also a little overreacting…”
actually i put 4, but another moderator removed one
YW Moderator-80Membersure, its not registered NOW
YW Moderator-80Membermust be the same as my dictionary. that is exactly as i understood her use of that common expression to mean just as she described it.
ive used, and heard used that expression in that way hundreds of times.
its called slang

August 3, 2010 5:57 pm at 5:57 pm in reply to: Television: A Cry of Anguish and Appeal to Our Jewish Brethren 📺 #1192917YW Moderator-80MemberDebatable
Interesting. I dont know anything about the matter, but thats the way i was taught it by numerous Rabbonim (on TishaB’Av).
I never realized there was a machlokes about it. Do you happen to know which Meforshim take the other side and whom do they say the Gemorrah is referring to? All the other personalities mentioned there are quite well known.
August 3, 2010 5:43 pm at 5:43 pm in reply to: Television: A Cry of Anguish and Appeal to Our Jewish Brethren 📺 #1192915YW Moderator-80Memberyes, his chalek is described there. he is one of the neshamos that Onkelos visited when he was considering gayros, and his situation is described
