no smartcookie im not denying that youths feel resentment that many things are assur. nor am i denying that are some people who look down on others who do not follow their opinions of what is assur or muttar.
that doesn’t mean that when someone yells “shorts are assur” that I have to re-examine it every time.

At this point, they are no longer machmir on themselves, they are (in essence) saying that if you do so, you are doing something wrong. *That’s* the point where I stand up and begin protesting.
i guess you are more righteous than i, or perhaps a bigger kanoi. i personally dont have the slightest inclination to “protest” when my inference from someones public statement is that i am doing something assur.

which may or may not be the case here but there are strong grounds for suspicion.
no one is forcing anything upon you, do what you wish.
people are expressing their opinions about what they feel to be right, as did you.
some may feel that it would be correct for everyone to follow their opinion, some may not, but no one is forcing anything upon you.
you need to be strong in your convictions and not feel threatened by opinions that differ from yours.
when someone becomes incensed and defensive of opinions that are more machmir, it usually indicates that they feel in themselves that maybe the other opinion is actually correct and they are frightened of that thought. i dont mean you, just in general
that definition refers to anything that is bland. it is derived from the nature of the flavor. it is not related (necessarily) to those that like bland flavors.
ex. the word spicy can refer to a flavor, or to other things that share the characteristics of that flavor (in a mushul way). it does not mean that people who like spicy foods are “spicy”.

im a ba’al tshuvah. I wouldnt say i am proud of it, it was not my doing. Hashem did me a great Chesed by reaching down and pulling me up. i will be forever grateful.
i generally dont think of the the fact that im a baal tshuvah. i dont feel anyone thinks of me any differently because of it or is even generally conscious of the fact. where i live i never sensed any kind of negative feelings against baal thsuvim or even any sense that anyone was interested in knowing who was a baal tshuvah or not. its a complete non issue, at least among the large number of people i know.
