You have no deleted posts in this thread
YW Moderator-80Memberlast one (for now):
“I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met.”
YW Moderator-80Memberstill more:
“The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.”
YW Moderator-80Membermore steven wright:
“All those who believe in psychokinesis raise my hand.”
YW Moderator-80Memberi have to salve my wounded ego, and give it some thought, but lets not make this kind of riddle a “serial” event
get it?
YW Moderator-80Membergeneral patton?
and general omar bradley said “patton is an idiot”
YW Moderator-80Membersee my post above wherein i shamefacedly admit my ignorance.
dont rub it in.
YW Moderator-80Memberif i know my riddle calendars, choc wins
YW Moderator-80Memberthank you
and i accept your n one
as well as the one that only enemy starts with a vowel
YW Moderator-80Memberwhat do you mean by incorrect.
is the riddle: which word is different?
or is the riddle: which word is different according to my calendar?
YW Moderator-80Memberclergy is also plural (even without the s) cleric is the singular.
rain is sort of plural
YW Moderator-80Memberthey all have 2 vowels except enemy which has 3
YW Moderator-80Memberi think were not understanding each other
thats fine
YW Moderator-80Memberhow about pains rain and clergy refer to broad concepts that have individual parts but enemy is singular
YW Moderator-80Memberi find this type of riddle aggavating because i dont know if it involves the meaning of the words or the structure of the words. i dont like to spend time analyzing one whereas the answer might lie in the other.
YW Moderator-80Memberim sure this isnt the answer on the calendar but all of them except rain have to do with living entities
YW Moderator-80Memberyes thats one reason they would not make a gezeirah but there are countless more
did they make a gezeirah that someone shouldnt blow his nose onto the street in public? i happened to see that a few days ago.
did they think that is okay.
we know what they thought about people who ate while walking down the street. they are passul from aidus. did they make a gezeirah?
ther must be literally millions of behaviors they did not think was okay but did not goizer.
YW Moderator-80Memberi have no idea
i dont really know what the issues are
i just didnt want this to turn into a “those greedy seminaries in Israel” thread.
YW Moderator-80Memberyou think the seminaries have no costs? that seems to me, too little to pay for feeding and housing and paying teachers and other staff and air conditioning and heating and electricity and the mortgage on the building and maintenance, etc. for one year.
it probably is subsidized by donations.
YW Moderator-80Memberyour logic is interesting
i dont believe however that Chazal made a gzeirah against every behavior that they thought wasnt ok.
YW Moderator-80Memberzeeskite you are right
i fixed it
YW Moderator-80MemberThank you daas
YW Moderator-80Memberglass can be mikabel tumah
it doesnt absorb cold blios however
YW Moderator-80Membermoderators: fasten your seat belts.
YW Moderator-80MemberA box of 58 Classical Black Tea – 380gms, in China, costs USD $52.80; that’s 363.063 Chinese Yuan.
YW Moderator-80Memberyes
i can explain
this thread is not about going on a date
it is about putting a date, a tamar, you know like dates and figs, into ones beer. that is drinking a beer with a particular fruit called a “date” floating in it
May 24, 2011 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm in reply to: Anyone see these rediculous "Doomsday" Ads in Subway? #770032YW Moderator-80MemberYW Moderator-80Memberi dont know the lumdus but i know that most Poskim consider coffee to be a chamar medina and soft drinks to be maim d’alma.
YW Moderator-80Member“I don’t believe in alcohol”
thats ridiculous. there are liquor stores all over the place. i personally have seen alcohol on NUMEROUS occasions. sometimes i even tasted it.
i suppose you dont believe in the lunar landing either.
YW Moderator-80Memberinteresting factoid to digest.
based on that, probably if he were alive today he would wear bluejeans, a baseball cap and sneakers. i dont know why the Gedolim of today dont.
YW Moderator-80Memberbased on the description of the book given above by flyer……
As far as I know…..
i hope no one will base a decision possibly adversely and permanently affecting a Yiddishe Neshama based on a flyer of a book, and guesswork as to what is in it
YW Moderator-80Memberid agree that bpt has honed this skill quite sharply.
took a while though
YW Moderator-80Memberi knew that but usually that doesnt happen
besides i figured you would be polite and not change it so i dont look like an idiot
YW Moderator-80Memberwell i suppose it could have been reflective but i think thats pretty unlikely
more likely a reflexive reaction

YW Moderator-80Memberask a shailah it is not as straightforward as the above post implies
May 20, 2011 5:39 pm at 5:39 pm in reply to: Best piece of advice you've ever gotten, that changed your life for the better #768860YW Moderator-80Memberthats true
and actually its close to what i would probably answer in truth.
i dont know if its the absolutely best advice ive ever received but it ranks up there and that is “talk as little as possible”
the Mseilus Yesharim makes a big point of this, a few pages actually as i recall.
that of course doesnt refer to talk to share with your spouse or increase friendship with others
it means to me
dont talk about dover btailim in the Bais Medrash
and outside every thing you say should be said with a cheshbon, not just automatic responses to inner and outer promptings.
May 20, 2011 5:34 pm at 5:34 pm in reply to: Anyone see these rediculous "Doomsday" Ads in Subway? #770025YW Moderator-80Memberno, not from the east at all

it was meant to be a joke
iow

May 20, 2011 5:17 pm at 5:17 pm in reply to: Anyone see these rediculous "Doomsday" Ads in Subway? #770020YW Moderator-80Memberthats really quite funny for a mayor

May 20, 2011 5:15 pm at 5:15 pm in reply to: Best piece of advice you've ever gotten, that changed your life for the better #768852YW Moderator-80Memberdont talk about personal matters among people you dont know, especially online
YW Moderator-80Memberas far as the other scam the number is 90#
it is true but it only affects a small population, major businesses who use the PBX system, whatever that is.
it doesnt effect residential and cellphone users
YW Moderator-80Memberconfirmed
YW Moderator-80Memberin other worrds its not said in the lashon of counting, with a vav, meaning “towards” the Omer. it is a description of the day.
May 20, 2011 3:45 pm at 3:45 pm in reply to: Anyone see these rediculous "Doomsday" Ads in Subway? #770015YW Moderator-80Memberseems flat to me
YW Moderator-80Membermarried women wearing no wig
possible but it doesnt seem so. the op probably would have referred to a tichel or scarf.
its fairly clear to me, or at least thats how the op made it seem, that the reference was to no covering.
YW Moderator-80Memberyou mean they would do something that is a…deliberate deception?
YW Moderator-80Memberi thought it was what freuds children experienced when they found out what their father was actually saying
