personally i dont know the Halacha and the only point i intended to make is that such matters are matters of Law and not matters of the heart.

Just because she isnt jewish doesnt mean she isnt his daughter

this is your Halachic opinion based on your knowledge of the sources, or Shiurim youve attended, or conversations youve had with Talmidei Chochomim?

    or it just feels right?

in reply to: Dah Mah Shetasheiv L'apikores #915078

i looked up the passages and it is not clear at all.

excuse me, i have to go to the Mikveh

in reply to: Silver and crystal pacifier clips #773502

Why doesn’t everyone just mind their own business?

when i saw your post i had the same exact thought.

in reply to: IS IT OK TOO?? #774240

In person vs not in person seems more on topic…

on topic? they didnt have telephones and email in those days

in reply to: Silver and crystal pacifier clips #773496

the question i have, dunno, is why do you care that they care?

in reply to: Dah Mah Shetasheiv L'apikores #915074

but best to not begin any conversation with them unless you really know their arguments and their fallacies. but even then there is no point unless they are Jewish, then (IF you are an expert) it might be worthwhile to have a discussion.

in reply to: Dah Mah Shetasheiv L'apikores #915073

me: so let me get this straight, if someone believes in your guy, even if he has killed and tortured many people, he will go straight to heaven.

him: yes, belief in him overides everything.

me: and if you dont accept him then you are going to burn forever, even if you were always a good person.

    him: yes, as i said.

me: so the many nazis that accepted him, are sitting on some clouds playing the harp and eating steak and champagne, and the innocent babies, women and men that were brutally tortured and degraded and finally murdered, they are all burning forever.

    him: well…yes

me: i have no interest in such an evil “religion”

in reply to: IS IT OK TOO?? #774237

    yes

    that was my point

in reply to: IS IT OK TOO?? #774235

    for the “non-frum” poster

it doesnt differentiate in Pirkei Avos because speaking to a person while not seeing them was not common. it also doesnt differentiate between many situations. it doesnt differentiate whether it is Shabbos or not, or whether the parties are in E’Y or not

it is up to the Poskim to determine such differentiations as the need arises.

in reply to: Ger Disowns Pre-Conversion Family #833029

im sure adorable will ask a shaila of an appropriate person if the situation arises.

Halachic discussions are permitted and encouraged here.

in reply to: Who are the top 2 people you'd like to meet #773899

42 and i know each other quite well, online.

moderators can never meet in person

    its too dangerous

kind of like bringing together a critical mass of uranium.

    in reply to: Vashti #772873

no im not even sure if that is the case, i just seem to recall it as such. i believe that was pretty standard practice for disobedient queens.

    in reply to: Vashti #772871

according to the law of the kingdom

i dont believe executioners had much in the way of options.

i believe it says somewhere that she was beheaded

    real brisker

    dont ask ME

in reply to: anyone have an explanation? #772893

    sure i googled it

cheated? i didnt realize it was a test

in reply to: anyone have an explanation? #772890

    i found this

i found it at yahoo answers

Round-trip tickets are often discounted. One-way tickets are almost never discounted. Airlines price tickets to get business travelers (who have to fly at very specific times and are willing to pay for the privilege) to pay more, and discount tickets for pleasure travelers (most of whom are willing to fly on different dates or even to different destinations to get a better deal – so you can’t make them pay much more or they’ll go elsewhere). That’s why they usually require advance purchases and Saturday night stays for a discount round trip. If they had discount one-ways, that would let people get around all of the restrictions on round trips, and would defeat the airlines’ whole pricing model designed to ensure that business travelers pay more and only pleasure travelers get the discounts.

you have to be very wary of even large scale “properly conducted” medical studies. these very same studies are constantly being overturned. the very same pediatricians would have been aghast and highly critical of your parenting skills had you let a baby sleep on their back a few years ago.

if one wants to be a physician and not a medical computer one must use seichel. one must have seichel

this particular study, included low economic classes who tend to fill their babies cribs with soft pillows and fluffy blankets on super soft matresses as they consider this very baby like.

all my grandchilren put their babies to bed on their stomachs. they are more comfortable, sleep better and are less prone to choking. they sleep on firm matresses with none or 1 thin blanket

i am not recommending this as a course of action for anyone here. this is not the CURRENTLY accepted medical advice. please ask your pediatrician

in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773234

    no Gedolim are not infallible

    neither are computers l’havdil

but if you want to plot a course to mars you had better use a computer and not your feelings.

in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773232

    where is the link?

i am unable to find it.

in reply to: Chillul H-shem….Definition #773010

well mom frum Jews acting improperly on the bus is a Chillul Hashem, as are non frum Jews riding the bus on Shabbos

in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773226

sometimes i feel that the Gedolim give us direction and i feel Hashem would agree. then i listen to them.

but if i feel Hashem does not agree with the Gedolim then i dont listen to them.

my feelings are much more reliable than the Gedolim. and the Poskim also

“Sweetbreads or Ris are culinary names for the thymus (throat, gullet, or neck sweetbread) or the pancreas (heart, stomach, or belly sweetbread) especially of the calf (ris de veau) and lamb (ris d’agneau) (although beef and pork sweetbreads are also eaten).[1] Various other glands used as food are also called ‘sweetbreads’, including the parotid gland (“cheek” or “ear” sweetbread), the sublingual glands (“tongue” sweetbreads or “throat bread”).[2][3] The “heart” sweetbreads are more spherical in shape, and surrounded symmetrically by the “throat” sweetbreads, which are more cylindrical in shape.”

in reply to: What are brains for?? #772201

There are different pshutim of what sweetbreads are

this is a “yeshivish” site for the interests of “yeshivish” people.

by the way i never went to Yeshivah and have no idea what a tuna baigel or hocker is

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773332

I know people who suffered from it

    great

im sure that makes you medically qualified to diagnose and dispense medical advice to a strangers comments in an online forum.

you were very wrong and your advice was dangerous

    i said end of discussion

any further posts re this will be deleted

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773326

i dont derive my medical knowledge and skills from google, or oprah.

the “diagnosis” and advice you mentioned were obviously (obvious even to a first year medical student) not applicable here despite some superficial similarities.

    end of discussion

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773325

    my own stats

3350 posts to date (that is as moderator-80)

    187 deleted.

    thats 5.5%

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773323

Then how come my medical advice got deleted. if someone is going to ask a medical question, its proper to give medical advice

    are you a physician?

    i am.

your “medical advice” was quite incorrect in this case, and harmful to boot. that’s why it was deleted.

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773321

for comparison sake i just checked on a particular poster, who is no longer here

    298 posts to date

    167 deleted

    56% deleted

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773319

however, as opposed to adorables situation, most of your posts got deleted on their own merit

    adorable

you have over 1,000 posts to date

    only 3.8% were deleted

    thats pretty good

and almost all the deleted ones had nothing really objectionable in them, but were deleted for other reasons

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773312

nothing was edited it was a joke

this is from her first “edited” post:

(B”H its not that many are deleted and none that i ever recall being edited)

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773307

okay adorable, i get you now.

there are a lot of reasons for modifying posts, not always obvious.

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773306

so bpt you undestand what she is asking then

can you please clarify it for me

    thanks

    and its not the weather

keep in mind there are a lot of moderators

they dont all think exactly alike

in addition, no one has time to analyze and pore (pour?) over every word

sometimes things get through that shouldnt

in reply to: would you let ur posts go thru #773303

if you were a mod and someone started a new thread that was totally incomprehensible, would you let it go through?

    in this case, yes

in reply to: Help me dry my tears #790597

    okay

    stop worrying, right now.

    you are a woman

    you cry from greeting cards

you are in the midst of tremendous and sudden change physically, emotionally, lifestyley, and every other way, and you wonder why you are crying now for no reason?

absolutely 100% normal and healthy, Mazel Tov!

in reply to: Help me dry my tears #790588

if i have offended you please say so. thanks

and i hope someone can help

in reply to: Help me dry my tears #790587

    wait a second

    you are a woman, right?

and you are crying for no apparent reason, right?

my wife crys when she gets a sentimental printed greeting card.

in reply to: Avoiding Even The Appearance of Impropriety… #777595

    a) I would have been late for the training

    b) I wouldn’t have the chance to eat at all

    c) There’s no saying that the same customers would still be there

it sounded from the way you wrote it that you had this thought right after leaving the store (though you didnt actually say that)

but in any case if you really were concerned that you had caused a chillul Hashem then your reasons a and b should of little or no consideration

and even reason c is of little consequence if you actually felt this was a potential chillul Hashem, as some or all might still have been there.

in reply to: Avoiding Even The Appearance of Impropriety… #777580

    i agree with canine

if you cheshboned that you might have created a Chillul Hashem you should have gone back and explained what happened and why you are explaining it.

some might have thought you silly

    some might have been impressed,

personally i wouldnt have gone back though, among a few reasons is that i might have been creating a chillul Hashem among those there that thought i was “tithing from straw”

in reply to: Tznius clarification, and apology #771849
