because all the chickens are crossing the roads to escape from the shochet

in reply to: Chofetz Chaim Tznius Foundation #825232

it is subjective, it is not subject to a standardized guideline, that is not the way to proceed. but that doesnt mean nothing can be done.

in reply to: Chofetz Chaim Tznius Foundation #825228

i think what you are calling “the actual Halachah” (youre basically referring to inches, right) has actually much improved over the last few years, and needs little strengthening (among the frum). the inches are almost always adhered to.

i wish i could use speific language here but i cant. im sure you know what im referring to, see sheins quotes of me.

the Halachah is being trampled on and erased.

i dont know about the socks issue and whatever else you are referring to as extras, im kind of out of the loop on these specifics.

im referring to the manner of dress that would have our alter Bubbies running away and weeping, if not grabbing a blanket and throwing it over them. maybe screaming at them, or fainting. in spite of all the inches being covered.

youre right, ill change it if you want. but ill have to also remove the ‘very” from your post, let me know.

in reply to: whoever thought of the CR….. #779872

YW Editor thought up the idea of YWN website, later he decided to start the CR (i disagreed with him), and he later appointed myself as a mod.

it is equally possible that Rabbi Scheinberg didnt actually say anything at all and it was actually a ventriloquist in the closet.

in reply to: Kula Creep – The Creation and Use of Non-Existent "Kula's" #779748

i think gavra (as well as Halachah), deserves the last word here.

mods- I am a firm believer that we should be allowed to express our views without censorship. ……. Either you must close this thread or start censoring it.

i learned in high school that the first and last sentence of a paragraph should parallel each other. wow

    youre right shein

today a proper Yirei Shomayim man should probably not attend a Chasunah. i do, and i rationalize it in many ways, but it really should not be done. most Chasunahs that im aware of anyway.

yes i know the Gedolim attend, but they are able to insulate themselves from the problem in many ways

    youre right shein

i think tznius has greatly and rapidly worsened over the same time period. i dont mean the technicality of inches (which is of course critical in itself). i mean the frummest women, even young Rebbiitzens, dressing in a manner (well i cant say) and its not only accepted but expected.

of course there are some true Aishes Chayalos, who are exceptions.

i do not understand the reason for this except perhaps that we have been living in america immersed in the nations for too long.

    it is frightening.

in response to the question of the title (which is completely different that the post)

    yes, tremendously!

i have seen a huge difference in the last 20 years or so. before the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation, the majority of frum Yidden werent even aware of the issur.

in reply to: child left in car seat- how to prevent? #795653

the idea mewho, if you would stop and think about it, instead of immediately being critical, especially without adding anything helpful of your own is:

to associate something that one is always carrying (ie purse for many women) and would sense it missing immediately,

to associate it with something (baby) that is NOT always present, especially for men.

people are human, sometimes they are preoccupied with worries or other things, some people intensely preoccupied, mistakes happen, even deadly ones, it is a shame, it is a tragedy. and if people need help tp prevent it, then they should avail themselves of it.

in reply to: child left in car seat- how to prevent? #795648

    what a great idea!

when i have something important at home or Shul, or wherever, and im afraid i might forget it, i put my car keys near it. more than i few times i got to my car and realized i left my keys and i remembered the other important item

i never thought of applying that aitzah to this.

in reply to: 7-11 = Coffee Room #780226

    interesting

in reply to: I LOVE JEWS :D and i'm so happy i'm one! #779601

Interesting stories – but I wish you would stop separating between Yid and goy.

    do you say Havdallah?

do you know the meaning of the words?

    do you think about them?

    DO YOU BELIEVE THEM?

do you understand that Hashem has made us a Holy Nation, a Kingdom of Priests, above and apart from the nations of the world.

you should address your wish to HaKodesh Boruch Hu.

in reply to: for moderators only #1036884

    no

in reply to: Giving Presents for Attending Simchas #779837

you could give a very nice, boxed pen and mechanical-pencil set to a Bar Mitzvah for about $10-15, a challah cover for very little.

if you are single, people dont expect you to spend much, but if possible its nicer to give a gift

expresses a chiba between the parties, shows that you care (as does coming to the Simcha)

in reply to: yeshiva or public school? #811687

no one condemned the parents in a case of necessity, or lack of understanding of the dangers.

do you ever miss an opportunity to condemn anything more frum than you? seems to be a constant pattern in your posts.

in reply to: yeshiva or public school? #811685

    thanks gavra

    youre right

but its one of those Gemorrah things

if you notice in the first half of my post the raisha was worded (in the quote) a certain way so i worded the saifa the same way.

in reply to: yeshiva or public school? #811682

what i dont like is when people say that the only way to educate a frum child is by sending him/her to a frum school

well then, youre not going to like this:

the only way to educate a frum child is by sending him/her to a frum school.

if you are forced by circumstances to send him to a public school, well what can you do?

but that is a very poor and dangerous thing to do to a Jewish Neshama, and it is a pity if someone is forced to do so.

in reply to: for moderators only #1036879

    sorry minyan gal, not you

although your posts take more time to examine

your middos and attidude are a pleasure.

i hope someday you will have a more accurate and complete knowledge of the real Truths of Judaism

in reply to: for moderators only #1036875

in reply to: for moderators only #1036867

    thank you zees and coke

    it is time-consuming

    and aggravating

    i prefer fat chocolate

theres no need to eat fat-free chocolate in moderation

in reply to: If I won the Lottery… #779196

sorry 72 it took so long. ive been in and out

just replace B with the word: “strong”

in reply to: If I won the Lottery… #779186

whoah..look what happens to a moderator when he retires.

i think you should go back to school and then join the ranks

in reply to: The Riddle Thread…. #1069716

    2. my brother

    3. fodder for j.a.p jokes

    4. doesnt ring a bell

    5. dont think thats possible

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004628

why did the chicken cross the road?

    to get the chinese newspaper.

    i dont get it.

neither do i, i get the ny times.

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004627

    except for the road-crossing chicken

there is no joke worse than that

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004626

why did the farmer say that?

how would anyone know where his tractor is if he himself doesnt?

sounds like he was mentally challenged

you shouldnt make fun of people like that

    thats not funny.

    ergo: the worst joke ever!

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004623

i do but im afraid if i post them someone…ahem..will steal them.

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004622

A joke isnt good when you need to disect it…

gumball, anything you disect isnt very funny

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004619

why did the cognitively-challenged person tiptoe past the medicine cabinet?

he didnt want to wake up the sleeping pills.

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004618

    blinky

    very original

in reply to: The Riddle Thread…. #1069714

    your logic is staggeringly impressive!

nevertheless you fail to understand Riddle World

im not capable of explaining it but it its rules are consistent and have their own logic. which is often quite illogical. kind of like quantum theory.

i once visited there. you can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave. i would recommend staying away.

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004612

this might be the worst joke ever but if you are about 5 years old its very funny

why did the cow go to the theater?

    to see the mooooooovie.

    in reply to: A Complaint……. #785244

    yes coke

i know what you mean but it made me “uncomfy” if you know what *I* mean

    in reply to: A Complaint……. #785241

so what do you think you should do then?

in reply to: SMILE CLUB :) #1100210

it enriches the receiver without impoverishing the giver

    not strong enough

    it enriches both

    in reply to: A Complaint……. #785238

    so coke

what do you think about my suggestions?

in reply to: Worst Joke Contest #1004608

    right

it should have turned into a thread about maize

in reply to: The Riddle Thread…. #1069709

    veteran

    you are right

    in the real world.

however this episode took place in Riddle World

which has its own rules and logic

in Riddle World there are people who always lie

there are unlabeled boxes of fruit which no one is allowed to look into but is free to remove one piece from

    and other such anomolies.

    in reply to: A Complaint……. #785228

i see why that bothers you.

i guess you would have to explain this to them beforehand.

or pretend you are like a nurse who has to deal with unpleasant things, and think of how Hashem appreciates what you are doing, even though it is hard emotionally as well as physically.

in reply to: Shidduch Threats #779090

    its terribly wrong

the teacher certainly should be corrected

    fired? maybe

sometimes a teacher can be so frustrated, feeling she has no way whatsoever to control her class, that she acts out of desperation, and probably doesnt realize just then how wrong it is.

could be this itself is a sign of her incompetence and she should lose her job, but im not so sure

always this has to be done by someone who is sensitive to both the wronged and the wronging parties.

i know i have done some very foolish and harmful things and eventually came to see just how wrong i was but somehow at the time i just didnt see it.

of course the Binos Yisroel must be protected at all costs from harm.

    hows that for wishy-washy?

in reply to: The Bombadier Beetle #778961
