    in reply to: Frustrating #786314

i dont know how you come to know a dozen abuse victims

i believe it is NOT rampant in my community.

    far from it.

    it is exceptional

    can i prove this?

    no

you probably think i just am not seeing below the surface.

    could be

but i do not think so.

    in reply to: Frustrating #786313

    what is meant by abuse?

    spanking?

    losing your temper?

    hitting?

    molestation?

    saying no too often?

what did each of these doctors mean by “abuse”

recently a woman was arrested and her children taken away because she spanked one of them, normal spanking, not severe, with her open hand.

how are they defining frum community?

this is not a simple thing to determine.

    in reply to: bloomingdales #782975

    yes

as has been mentioned numerous times

he tried to post why there are more boys than girls but it was not allowed for reasons related to a mixed audience here.

but it is not a proven scientific fact

i doubt if you can provide any statistics as to the M/F ratio in frum populations

in reply to: HaRav, Rav, Rabbi, Reb #794650

he will let us know but i think wolf was probably under the impression that reb was some sort of honorific, indicating a higher status, and not merely the equivalent of mr

    um

not that i have any particular poster in mind

the official policy here is to allow only one screen name per person.

although this is almost never enforced, it is when the two identities post in the same thread to support each other

    ok?

    hes not interested in supporting

he has a point he wishes to make

in reply to: Tznius Again #856538

    what a father!

    you are fortunate

in reply to: wife's name #782656

The sensitivity is because you were brought up to think that it is the proper derech. If you were brought up hearing the name being used, you would not think twice about it.

    no

i was brought up as a child to call all adults by their first name, my parents always used the first name of their spouse when referring to them, it was all very natural and correct to me.

when i was brought to the Torah by Hashem and began to develop a Torah sensitivity i started referring to my wife as “my wife” except to family and close friends.
