adorable has a good point also

    for ex:

someone posts: hey i got this great email, take a look, LOL OMG!!!!

doesnt necessarily require a f/u by the original poster (and hopefully there wont be one)

in reply to: thread starter responsibilities #787940

    no one has to respond

it IS impolite however not to

which i think is the point of the op.

please note in my above post that marijuana does NOT have to be smoked in order to experience its effects.

in reply to: Do you support Medical Marijauna #787986

“Medical marijuana” is just a fraud, pure and simple. Smoking marijuana has no medical use whatsoever

could be, but where do you see that in the article you posted?

besides which that article is about a *synthetic* version of *one*

of the many active components of marijuana (albeit the one that scientists currently hold is the primary component that gives the cognitive effects). where is the evidence that consuming marijuana via the lungs, or orally is not effective in treating nausea and other medical conditions?

you have to be very careful and knowledgeable in interpreting consumer medical website information.

in reply to: Unbelieveable Letter To Klal Yisroel #787413

i dont know about the sources in wikipedia.

as i said im personally skeptical, but there are many great people who are not.

in reply to: Unbelieveable Letter To Klal Yisroel #787410

it may indeed be a fraud, but unless you are familiar with the type of communication with an autistic child called “facilitated communication” that would be a pretty uninformed statement.

personally i am skeptical of the technique but am not certain.

additionaly there have been cases of “autistic” children who actually may not have been autistic but something more like “idiot savants” (excuse the expression please) who would “come out” of their autism on occassion and spout extremely intelligent ideas. i dont recall where these cases were documented. i heard it on an npr program (in my old liberal days)

in reply to: Couple Meals #788218

in the Goyish society in which we live and whose values we so easily absorb and make a part of ourselves (without even realizing it), (unless we are very careful, work very hard at it and learn and practice Mussar), having couples over is obviously perfectly fine and it is laughable, very laughable that some fanatic Jews living in the dark ages caution about this.

this is exactly the Nisayin we are all facing today.

unfortunately the vast majority of us, as is evident from threads like this, are failing miserably.

in reply to: Couple Meals #788212

    so go ahead defend yourself

and you can feel guilty as well if that makes you feel so

in reply to: Couple Meals #788208

im sorry i was referring to mosherose

in reply to: Couple Meals #788204

that post pretty much confirms all our suspicions (at least for me i was leaving it as a suspicion, to most posters here it was probably a certainty)

that you dont believe half of what you say, which somehow is always provocative as well.

i think troll is the term reserved for this

in reply to: Couple Meals #788199

no i have no problem with someone making such a statement.

in reply to: Couple Meals #788197

you can follow any Rav you wish.

someone can tell you you should conduct yourself anyway he would like.

    you dont have to listen.

you dont have to feel guilty.

no one is making you do or feel anything.

nor do you have to defend yourself

if you would like to though, go ahead

in reply to: Do you support Medical Marijauna #787973

Why do you thing there is this prohibition on something that is less harmful than alchohol and tobbacco, and in fact has postive medical applications?

because it has been associated with a subculture of heroin use, violent crime, and other anti-social behavior.

yes i support its medical use

in reply to: Do you support Medical Marijauna #787970

when my kids were little and they were interested in the beautiful poured whiskey shots on the Kiddush table, i told them it tasted terrible. if they were still interested i put a drop of it, from my finger, on their tongues. today none of them like whiskey.

in reply to: Life on Other Worlds? #787246

The Boreh caused grass and rabbits to sprout everywhere. could this include other worlds. i suppose so. no reason to think so but i suppose it could be.

but He only created ONE Odom.

only ONE creation did He breathe into of Himself. only ONE creation that has Tzelem Elokim.

i dont recall anything like that, maybe someone else will.

in reply to: Beis Din Starving a Murderer #786190

if beis din sentenced someone to death and he escaped before the sentence was carried out, how long can elapse for his capture so that beis din can still carry out the sentence?

once there is a gmar din, there is no time limit.

if the crime was committed as a young man and now he is 95,ill and incapacitated and the Godol HaDor, the sentence will be carried out.

in reply to: Non-kosher gum chewer. #786156

    i found this online:

“The BI’UR HALACHAH (OC 315:7) explains that an umbrella is not similar to a folding chair, because such a chair unfolds right into position. An umbrella, however, is different, because the metal rods keep the umbrella locked in the open position, and these must be clicked into place when unfolding the umbrella. Because of this, opening an umbrella is deemed constructing an Ohel, and not merely putting an object in a different position. “

sounds to me like our modern umbrellas

in addition ive asked two Poskim about this issur and i was told the problem is the issur of ohel

in reply to: Non-kosher gum chewer. #786154

that of course is in regards even to an umbrella that was opened before Shabbos. even more so is it a problem to open an umbrella on Shabbos

in reply to: Non-kosher gum chewer. #786153

the Bi’ur Halachah writes that one is prohibited to carry an umbrella on Shabbos because wherever a person walks while he carries the umbrella, he makes a new ohel in that place (since he is holding the umbrella for the sake of using it as an ohel, which protects the space underneath it).

in reply to: Refuting the liberal claims about the tragedy. #786621

Rabbi Avigdor Miller, z’tl, held strongly and said time after time that the death penalty is a strong deterrent to murder. he also said many times that the best rehabilitation for a murderer is the electric chair.

he was incensed at the liberal attitudes of todays society because that itself was the cause of much of crime. i dont know if he read all the statistical reports but he was a man of great Chochma and felt one was a misguided fool to listen to the liberals who had mercy on criminals.

all of his statements were based soley on the Gemorah and the Mesorah.

in reply to: more computer help please #796773

thank you for your help but that isnt my question

    to repeat:

i guess what i want to know for example if i get a video card are they usually compatible with one of those pci type slots or the other

i need to find out about these two types of pci slots

in reply to: more computer help please #796770

    in between

there is no video card, no sound card, they are both integrated

there are no extra usb ports (other than on the MB)

i am not aware of anything that would be occupying those slots

you make abundantly clear the corrolary to that rule:

it is rare that one side is able to appreciate the other sides side.

in reply to: Return Policies #786551

these stores have reasons for their policies and there is nothing wrong with utilizing them, as long as you are honest.

my father, O’H, bought a craftsman vice from sears roebuck with a lifetime guarantee. 30 years of heavy use later he brought it back because the gripping surfaces were worn out. he told them that was the reason. he didnt make up some other reason. he didnt demand a refund. he simply asked does your return policy include normal wear. they proudly answered yes and gave him a new one, (which sold for about 5 times what the original cost)

ive told this story over many times, as has my brother, better than any advertising they could pay for, and i imagine thats what they had in mind when deciding on such a policy

in reply to: Beis Din Starving a Murderer #786178

wolfs point that Beis Din did not use the kipa whenever they would have wanted to, in no way is affected by knowing in which cases they WOULD use the kipa.

besides, wolf is not obligated to “back up his view”. he just was pointing out a logical assumption based on the case he stated.

im sorry happiest your last comment really doesnt make much sense

ask any psychiatrist and theyll tell you that 98% of their patients have a mental disorder. that doesnt mean that mental disorers are rampant. ask any orthopedic surgeon and he will tell you that 40% of his patients have fractured bones. that doesnt mean that fractures are rampant.
