bpt
im pretty sure that was a typo and she meant i am NOW eagerly awaiting my chance!!!
YW Moderator-80Memberi see
and what do we learn from Odom exactly?
that we should do only what we are told in the Torah directly?
i guess the thousands of Takanahs that the Rabbaim made, for which they are called our mothers for their great compassion in distancing us from sin, should be repealed.
I guess we should throw out the entire Mesechta Eruvin and most of the voluminous Mesechta Shabbos, and a great deal else of Shas,
because it is all the Takanas of the Tanaaim and Amoroim, to distance us from sin
and throw out the Halachah Seforim as well
YW Moderator-80Memberi heard that shiur
6000 is the LATEST that Moshiach can come
he can come today
YW Moderator-80Memberpeople dont stay long
and they come at different times
shouldnt be a problem
YW Moderator-80Memberadorable
i didnt delete it because i dont understand it

thanks
YW Moderator-80Membershouldnt this be in the riddle thread?
YW Moderator-80Memberi had the same problem

YW Moderator-80Memberthey (almost)all know that the Jewish religion forbids cremation.

not a university course
YW Moderator-80Memberamong other things, we try to disallow personal insults.
live with the moderation that we see fit or you are free to not post. there are plenty of other Jewish sites open to you with more liberal or no moderation.
YW Moderator-80Memberhe was blocked because he issued a written curse to a fellow Jew on another thread (since been deleted)
YW Moderator-80Memberthe straw was a curse he wrote here upon a fellow Yid. that post has of course been deleted
YW Moderator-80Membervegetarianism for health reasons, or a sensitivity in that it bothers you to eat animal flesh (while not holding it to be “wrong”) is a differnt story and i dont think there is any problem with this. as long as it doesnt become an ism, a foundation of your beliefs.
YW Moderator-80Memberi have been told it is worse than just another ism,
if one holds by vegetarianism out of “moral” principles and that killing animals for food is “wrong” this is apikorsis gemura
July 25, 2011 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm in reply to: Why do I feel like I am still trying to Prove Myself to them? #789466YW Moderator-80Memberi dont think so

i dont know
but im a bt, for about 20 yrs. now
i have NEVER, not even ONCE, experienced any kind of prejudice or negative attitudes because of this
or maybe i have and i am just to dense to have noticed, but i dont think so
adarabah, i have many times heard (undeserved) praise for being a bt
this prejudice i keep reading about in the cr is a complete chiddush to me.
i just dont get it (this last phrase is meant in two ways)

YW Moderator-80Memberi imagine the child meant that all those he would think of marrying are taken already, mommy, bubby, sister, aunts, your friends…
he probably doesnt realize that he will marry someone that he doesnt even know yet. im pretty sure thats why the question was asked.

from someone who has reasons to sometimes become frustrated with the moderation here
truly a man of integrity
(just in case my tone isnt clear, that was meant in complete seriousness, zero sarcasm intended)
YW Moderator-80MemberZdad and AN:
while what you say is true
nevertheless according to the Gedolim and local Rabbaim who speak about such things
it is helpful, and perhaps we are even mchuyiv to speculate on these matters based on our Mesorah.
we ARE meant to learn from all events, especially those directly affecting Klal Yisroel
YW Moderator-80Memberi didnt learn that Gemorrah…yet.
but i have a suspicion that it is interpreted as being ONE of the possible reasons
July 22, 2011 5:24 pm at 5:24 pm in reply to: Today's YW Coffee Room feature: A page full of closed threads #800669YW Moderator-80Memberoh yes
we have ways of dealing with posters like bpt… “behind the scenes”….
usually having something to do with bears and a tree.
July 22, 2011 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm in reply to: Nashim Da'atan Kalos and gemorah Avoda Zara 18b #789021YW Moderator-80Memberwe are not DUMB were just wired differently and are generally not so technical and “deep learners” but are more tuned into emotions and stuff
i couldnt have put it better
YW Moderator-80Memberi would NOT tell her anything specific at all
just show her how sorry you are
she needs emotional support not advice
she needs caring and hugs and love
July 22, 2011 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm in reply to: What special Shabbos dish are you making today? #789395YW Moderator-80Membermy recipe for beer can chicken is much more interesting, and is always the subject of conversation
i do it just like you but i dont open the can or poke holes in it.
YW Moderator-80Memberthe hypothesis is that people have an extremely underestimated concept of a trillion dollars when they hear the word.
i guess well never know
YW Moderator-80Memberokay nevermind this obviously isnt going to work

July 21, 2011 6:36 pm at 6:36 pm in reply to: Nashim Da'atan Kalos and gemorah Avoda Zara 18b #788999YW Moderator-80Memberim sure there are many valid Shitas as to what it means. and im sure they are all correct.
YW Moderator-80Memberi think you put that very well simcha.
and not only are your conclusions sound but i believe this is how we actually Poskin today.
thank you
July 21, 2011 6:14 pm at 6:14 pm in reply to: Nashim Da'atan Kalos and gemorah Avoda Zara 18b #788996YW Moderator-80MemberRabbi Avigdor Miller, tz’l, described it as women being more easily persuaded and less stubborn than men, having nothing to do with intelligence.
YW Moderator-80Membersad indeed
no one said anything about anyone being infallible.!
not only do you have NO idea what that Gemorrah meant, obviously NO understanding of what the Gemorrah is in general, and NO understanding of how to learn Gemorrah, you are apparently totally unable to admit this and continue to “understand” Torah based on your western liberal secular feelings.
the rest of your post has been deleted to prevent you from further demonstrating your foolishness in this matter. im sorry you dont understand our “fanaticism”, but the Emes and Hashems honor must be upheld here as much as is possible.
no further posts from anyone will be approved re this subject.
YW Moderator-80Memberi know some will not agree but this is the Halacha.
it is such as i learned it
and it is such as i asked a highly respected Posek.
being in the newspapers, being well known does not remove a statement from being Loshon Horah
first of all there may be a few (one is enough) who will hear about it for the first time
secondly being public only makes it permissible if it is said derech agav, not if it is said to continue publicizing it.
third there are a number of opinions that even when it IS permitted it is a lowly thing to state negative things about ANY fellow Jew (even if “deserved”) unless there is a Toeles.
this is the Psak I got from the Posek to whom i rely on for issues relating to my function here as moderator. i am not willing to discuss it further with the members of the CR, neither those wise and learned ones, nor others.
as regards the main page, i have refrained from asking a shaila, and therefore have no opinion.
July 21, 2011 4:09 pm at 4:09 pm in reply to: With what was known about L Aron, could anyone have predicted that he'd murder? #787845YW Moderator-80Memberi dont think the family would be very pleaesed with this discussion
YW Moderator-80Memberhere is a quote of just a small and mild part of the post with the name of the Tannah obviously changed:
“This whole story says more about the inherent stupidity and egotism of man than of the so-called lightheadedness of woman. What DO they call someone who incites another person to commit an aveira (possibly even only the appearance of an aveira)? Meisit u’meidiach??? I would not tell over that story again. It does no favor for Rabbi Ploni”
YW Moderator-80Memberno i didnt ask a shaila, and i cant right now
but ive thought about it, and i just cant leave it up
YW Moderator-80Memberi should clarify that and say i ocassionally agree with his statements. to say i agree with him is misleading since i have no idea how he actually holds
i dont recall which statements i have agreed with, there werent many
YW Moderator-80Memberof course they can
if you even superficially read the two posts you will see one is talking about joseph and one is talking about mosherose.
if you mistakenly think they are the same person then i see why you might be confused.
YW Moderator-80Memberthank you for pointing out your previous post, i didnt see it.
YW Moderator-80Memberjoseph is not mosherose
joseph has extreme views
hes not a troll (in my opinion)
YW Moderator-80Memberoomis post which completely distorts the Gemorah and she draws ugly and twisted conclusions from it, (based soley on her own personal values and understanding) and speaks disparigingly about a Tannah!, unbelievable! is the very answer to the original post as to why women dont learn Gemorrah.
the ridiculous and destructive post was allowed to stand only because it so well illustrates the issue.
