YW Moderator-72Participanti put one foot on the scale tonight and the scale said OUCH
December 28, 2008 6:26 pm at 6:26 pm in reply to: Where is The Best Place to Buy a Digital Camera? #628377YW Moderator-72Participantaccepting the mussar from PM. Joseph, please let me know if I offended you, so that I can say I’m sorry and delete my comment.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI should really read the posts more carefully – I thought asdfghjkl was guessing the number of donuts we each had so far the Chanukah…
YW Moderator-72ParticipantJoseph – this mod (#72) has stated his opinion. I do not think that the other moderators or the editor have weighed in on this issue
YW Moderator-72ParticipantJoseph, I woke up one morning and after dovenen I went for a cup of coffee (no sugar – 2% milk) and — POOF — there it was!
YW Moderator-72Participantasdfghjkl – that is the intention.
YW Moderator-72Participantfor those who didn’t check out the daily Chanukah in the features section under the daily Halacha section:
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI spoke with a person at the CCHF today and he is clearing it with the top person there. the plan at this point is to have a link in the features section similar to:
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/weekly_torah.php
updates and status as soon as we have them.
in the meantime, if you are not sure if what you are about to say violates the laws of shmiras haloshon, don’t say it! oh and if you are sure it is a violation, for sure don’t say it!
YW Moderator-72Participanthint:
the thread currently has an very interesting number of posts. now it could change by the time someone looks again, however as of a few hours ago…
YW Moderator-72Participantb/t/w for the D’Var Torah, you can also go to:
YW Moderator-72Participantok – I left a hint in another thread.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI grew up in a family that enjoyed sports. We were encouraged to be active in all different kinds of sports leagues – I was involved in bowling, football, basketball, soccer and baseball leagues at various times. Playing sports for fun, exercise and even competition is fine. Spending hours reading up on the latest deals, trades and statistics is not the ideal (to say the least).
YW Moderator-72Participantyes, I’m going to tell you… at the Chanukah Party tomorrow… so keep guessing and, who knows, maybe someone will guess correctly.
YW Moderator-72Participantqwertyuiop – this side, over here.
asdfghjkl – I am friends with everyone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
so far nobody guessed it correctly and nobody is close.
YW Moderator-72Participantok – a question to everyone at the party. the winner gets an automatic gimel in the dreidel game on the spin of their choice.
The meaning behind the number “72” in YW Moderator-72 is?
YW Moderator-72Participanta little patience please. the CCHF seemes receptive to the idea. I am waiting for a call back to discuss how we are going to implement it.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantCurious, excuse my bad manners. I forget to thank you so… Thanks for the coffee.
YW Moderator-72Participantforget about the biggest blogger award, can you do a pair or scissors and jar of glue? that way we can give you the YW “Cut And paste” Award.
:o)
YW Moderator-72Participanti may need to hire a professional food taster prior to accepting coffee from anyone here. delete or edit one little post and…
:o)
YW Moderator-72Participantmake them in a 9 inch round tray.
when they are settled, cut straight across about leaving 2 pieces with one piece equalling 1/3 and the other = 2/3. put the two rounded edges together and from the 2/3 side cut pieces off (you can eat the scraps – e/o knows that there are no calories in the broken pieces) untill you end up with eight candles and the shamash.
use more melted chocolate to “glue” the base to the top. also, if it crumbles at all, use more of the melted chocolate to even out the sides.
YW Moderator-72Participantok – who was supposed to post a D’var Torah last night?
I expect to see 1 tonight and hopefully a 2nd one to make up for last night.
YW Moderator-72Participantcareful amichai – treading on the my Chanukah treats is a good way to get your posts deleted.
:o)
YW Moderator-72Participantmake them with a sugar substitute and send them some to me. Just a suggestion. Oh, and could you add a cup of coffee with them…
YW Moderator-72Participantmmm. I just had a donut from the recipe above. mmmm delicious. I fried most of them as above and will add the jelly later. on the last couple I added cinnamon to the the donut and to the oil. I had one of the cinnamon donuts and it was great!
YW Moderator-72Participantthe recipe above is parve. and my daughter just told me she so it in mishpocha jr. (credit to the source) with the regular flour and sugar.
YW Moderator-72Participantcharlie brown. We need a note from a responsible adult in your house to explain your absence last night.
YW Moderator-72Participantfrom the daughter of YW Moderator-72 (sugar free donuts)
1 ounce fresh yeast
1 1/2 cups luke warm water
1 tablespoon xylitol (sugar substitute)
___ Mix the above together___
in a separate bowl
4 cups of whole wheat (or whole spelt) flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup xylitol
pinch of salt
1/2 cup of oil (grapeseed)
___ Mix these together____
when the yeast starts to sizzle add the yeast mixture to the batter mixture
mix into a dough
let sit for 1-1/4 hours to rise
shape the donuts
let sit for 1/4 hour
place in preheated grapeseed oil on a low to medium flame – cook on both sides – the oil should be sufficient to cover half the donut.
after they cool, use a cake decorator and poke a tiny hole in the side of the donut. squeeze the all natural sugar free jelly into the donut.
serve with coffee.
NOTE: This is a new recipe for us and the batter is currently rising. I will let you know in a few hours how delicious they are. The full sugar regular flour recipe came out good or so I was told.
YW Moderator-72Participantbrooklyn19. I use Xylitol and why would I make non-kosher donuts?
additionally, hatzlocha rabba tomorrow
YW Moderator-72Participantplease refrain from asking details about the specific location of other posters.
YW Moderator-72Participanttomorrow we are making whole wheat (yes sugar free) with raspberry filling fried in grapeseed oil.
sometimes we do whole spelt.
YW Moderator-72Participant1 the first night
2 the second night
…
YW Moderator-72Participantno. Diabetic.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI had a sugar free raspberry filled mini donut with a cup of coffee…
YW Moderator-72ParticipantLATKES ARE READY – Get ’em while they’re hot!!!
YW Moderator-72Participantmost every guess is a good guess, was it an accurate guess? I am only a Moderator, I do not know the real names of all those that post here.
YW Moderator-72Participantintellegent – understood, however, it could have been his name.
December 21, 2008 7:14 pm at 7:14 pm in reply to: The Great Potato Latke vs Hamantaschen Debate —> VOTING IS CLOSED <— #933064YW Moderator-72ParticipantRound 3 is open and voting has been closed.
the vote is:
the final tally is
Latkes: 10
Hamantaschen: 5
Potato Latkes: 2
now, curiously, Curious (who voted for latkes) pointed out that “Apparently just voting for “latke” is not enough, as you may be referring to zucchini or cheese latkes (yum!). The rules said “Only votes for either the *Potato* Latke or the Hamantaschen will be posted”. Therefore, it looks like hamantashen are leading twenty to zero.”
If we exclude all the commentary and look only at the votes that followed the rules, Hamantaschen win and if we are lenient and go with intent kind of like the “hanging chads” for all those in Florida, Latkes win.
The options that remain open now is to either go to the Supreme Court for a ruling or to accept the historical research dating back to 1946 and the original debate, and just call it a tie.
wishing all a Freilichen Chanukah!
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI can only try – I did as you said. very good!
YW Moderator-72Participantboitallmr,
am I allowed to guess?
December 21, 2008 12:11 am at 12:11 am in reply to: The Great Potato Latke vs Hamantaschen Debate —> VOTING IS CLOSED <— #933055YW Moderator-72Participantto be clear, I am asking both the YW Editor and the moderator known as YW Moderator-42 what there votes are.
December 19, 2008 7:31 pm at 7:31 pm in reply to: The Great Potato Latke vs Hamantaschen Debate —> VOTING IS CLOSED <— #933049YW Moderator-72Participantthe debate is over, however, all the votes haven’t been counted yet. don’t forget we need to check the absentee ballots.
This Moderator is voting for: Hamantashen
42, editor – what’s your vote?
YW Moderator-72Participant72 never pretended to be 99.
YW Moderator-72Participantabcd1234, we are in constant contact with each other. not to mention the quarterly moderators convention in Eretz Yisroel.
December 19, 2008 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm in reply to: The Great Potato Latke vs Hamantaschen Debate —> VOTING IS CLOSED <— #933042YW Moderator-72ParticipantSJSinNYC, I’m concerned that people will complain if I allow this post I will allow notpashut to respond – if done before Shabbos. all others can only vote.
