January 16, 2009 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm in reply to: Mishnayos for the Fallen Soldiers in Eretz Yisroel #998149YW Moderator-72Participant
Let’s keep in mind the soldiers and citizens in Eretz Yisroel as we light candles, doven, say tehillim and learn this Shabbos.
May all Yidden have a most wonderful and pleasant Shabbos and may we only hear Besuros Tovos when we log back in M’Shabbos.
Good Shabbos.
YW Moderator-72Participantasdfghjkl – you’re right – brain freeze on my part.
YW Moderator-72Participantnu, did anyone welcome yenta101?
YW Moderator-72ParticipantCEO2009 btw – sometimes the longer the post, the longer the wait for approval :o) sorry, just the way it goes.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantDoes anybody want a permanent night? This will not exclude others from posting on a particular night. We can even have more than one person signing up for a night. This would just ensure that no night gets skipped like we almost had last night.
which permanent night do you want:
JayMatt19 –
nossond –
qwertyuiop –
Pashuteh Yid –
Bais Yaakov Maydel –
chofetzchaim –
4th grade daughter of mdlevine –
another question – does anybody want to provide a daily synopsis of the daf (not cut and paste from another site)? should we start a new thread for this?
Have a wonderful Shabbos everyone!
YW Moderator-72ParticipantOK OK you want the “joke” here it is. I took the liberty of removing the improper reference and replaced it with a more appropriate term. This is a one time special E’Shabbos deal. Please do not ask what the replacement term replaced, YW Moderator-72
and the joke is
a man answered his door only to be confronted by a young, well dressed man carrying a vacuum cleaner. “good day sir”, said the young man “if i can take a couple of minutes of your time, i would like to demonstrate the very latest vacuum cleaner”
“go away, i have no money” and the man of the house as he proceeded to close the door.
quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot into the door and pushed it opened. “dont be so hasty!” he said “not untill u have seen my demonstration” and with the he poured a bucket of dirt onto the carpet. “if this vacuum cleaner does not remove every trace of the dirt, i will personally eat the remainder.”
the man of the house stepped back and said “well i hope u have a great appetite because they cut of my electricity this morning!! what part of no money did you not understand??
YW Moderator-72ParticipantMod 55, was that you by the pickle barrel with your sleeve rolled up and your arm stuck in past your elbow fishing aroung for a good pickle from the bottom of the barrel?
btw, I think I saw “86” in the store. there was one guy (with a mustache) hanging out in the greeting card section wearing a trench coat, black hat and sun glasses… hmmm
YW Moderator-72ParticipantOk – I went Shabbos Shopping and not one person came over to say hello. :o( there was one person kind of baldish with a little wisp of hair wearing a shirt with a zigzag stripe across the midsection who kept sneaking looks into my cart otherwise no one came over.
:o)
YW Moderator-72ParticipantTo all: It is not easy to read each post and catch everything that gets posted. At times we toggle on a post and accidently select approve when we meant to select delete. If you see an inappropriate post please let us know as areivimzehlazeh did. If you do not want to post a comment, you can send me an email: Moderator72 at theyeshivaworld.com and I will check it out.
Thank you,
YW Moderator-72ParticipantIntellegent – I think that you won the “misspelling of the year” award by default also. Either I am tied or I come in a close 2nd. YW “Noderator-72 aka YW Moderster-72 and sometimes YW Moderator-72
YW Moderator-72Participantthose who want to meet, I’ll be Shabbos shopping early this afternoon. I’ll be the one with the black hat, beard and peyos pushing a cart with such things in it as soup vegetables, chulent mix, chicken… oh and instant coffee and 2% milk I am running low – you will not find sugar in my wagon.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantAHEM {cough, cough}
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI like this post
let’s try to keep this civil.
thanks

i actually hate coffee with a passion
Now I have to put you on my list of posters to be scrutinized even more than usual!!!!!!!! j/k!!!!!!!! :o)
now, could somebody just get me a regular coffee, no sugar, 2% milk
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI think you get all the votes because you have the best bumper stickers! :o)
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI went to sleep early one night and missed all the excitement…
Mazel Tov to squeak for hitting 1000 and to all the other loyalists for making 1000 possible!
YW Moderator-72Participantgot it. good one! I will not spoil it this time
YW Moderator-72Participanto
YW Moderator-72Participantrest assured that you are not the only one being edited / deleted. all posts go through moderation – there are NO automatics. there are posters that have never met the delete or edit button and yet we continue to read all their posts.
don’t be offended, keep posting and don’t worry if some of your posts do not make it into the thread either as submitted or in an edited version. btw If you were to start a thread about who is upset with mod72, it would probably break all records.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: way back in time, when I first started posting on the main page (long before the coffee room) I also had posts moderated out – one time I even had the editor call me out on one of my posts (no, I am not going to say what it was about). let me just say that my “facts” were in fact not facts.
YW Moderator-72Participantjust added number 9, inspired by… you can figure it out.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI added an 8th comment. perhaps more to follow.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantPlease see the nightly D’var Torah submitted by qwertyuiop posted above.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantThe posters that (not necessarily in order of importance:
1) are clear in what they want to say (not concerned about spelling)
2) do not try to slip in double meanings
3) understand that this site is called The Yeshiva World and use appropriate expressions
4) send emails ONLY when necessary and are respectful in their tone
5) does not submit a post and follow it with nu… where is it already
6) use caps appropriately
7) don’t keep pointing out the Noderstors spelling errors (had to put in one joke)
8) Do not ask what was wrong with their deleted posts
9) do not ask us to go back to one of their deleted posts and fix it for publication.
10) understand what is typed is not always what is read (tone)

Which mod is being so mean to me???? 72? Is that you? I’m really disappointed. I expect a lot more from you
you know that I am not mean to anyone. On certain threads – I try to keep close to topic. I am sure that you understand.
YW Moderator-72Participantwill we break 1000 posts in this thread Today? Tomorrow? Tuesday…?
YW Moderator-72ParticipantJayMatt – Excellent and Mazel Tov!
YW Moderator-72Participantyour IP is not a Brooklyn IP.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantI was thinking closer to manhattan. but not the manhattan that we all usually think about.
YW Moderator-72Participantmoish01. trust me, you are not the first nor will you be the last to get a post moderated – meaning either edited or deleted. ask your cousin I’m sure she can tell you about posts of hers that get moderated. trust me, nobody is immune to moderatoration.
btw, I did a lookup when I saw all the posts about you and brooklyn19 being cousins. where did you say you live?
YW Moderator-72ParticipantCurious – where is the birthday cake? And don’t forget the coffee…
YW Moderator-72Participanthappy birthday – are you going to change your name to YW Moderator-100 now?
YW Moderator-72Participantthe short answer is that there is no real difference.
The practical answer is:
the spreadsheet that was set up by mdlevine has multipe columns so that if someone signed up for a kapital and somebody else also wanted to signup for the same kapital, they would put there name in the next column (or round). Right now YWN has 100% of the sefer Tehillim committed to be said daily in column 1 and if memory serves correctly we are about 1/3 of the way to completing it twice daily.
forward the link to this thread to your family and friends and lets see how many people we can unite in the daily recitation of Sefer Tehillim.
YW Moderator-72Participantmoish01, You can say whatever you want about me. but calling others (either those in the coffee room of the greater “generic others”) not nice names AND you know what I am talking about, will not be tolerated.
YW Moderator-72ParticipantThere is a thread for suggestion to improve YWN already. Please add your comment/question there.
Thanks. :o)

January 9, 2009 2:52 am at 2:52 am in reply to: POLL: Do You Think YWN Should Have More Mods To Go Faster #832115YW Moderator-72Participantwhen you see YW Moderator-!!!!!! will you be able to guess who that is?
YW Moderator-72ParticipantOK. start signing up for next week. Tomorrow I will update the list in the first post on this thread. remember, without volunteers, I will need to assign people a night. Multiple people per night is acceptable. The purpose of the sign-up sheet is to ensure that a night does go without a d’Var Torah.
I think that Rebbetzin Bais Yaakov maydel has requested M’Shabbos.
Also, if you want to dedicate the D’var Torah either as a zchus for someone (e.g. Soldiers in Eretz Yisroel) or a zechar nishmas or… please put that on the first line.
btw, as of now, we only need a little over 600 posts to catch up to the Random Questions threads – so we are very much in reach.
January 8, 2009 8:18 pm at 8:18 pm in reply to: Mishnayos for the Fallen Soldiers in Eretz Yisroel #998147YW Moderator-72ParticipantI have posted the names as they appeared in various YW threads. If someone has the complete names, please post them.
