As long as we don’t sheer the simchos on Shabbos as that would be a melocha of gozez.
(Is “sheer” a combination of share and hear like chillax?)
YW Moderator-42Moderator“Simply transferring some of ones own life-force to someone else”
What if she transfers the dark side of the force?
How many Eldunari does she have? How about Horcruxes?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorPopa, when are you starting daf yomi in Yerushalmi?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorSnort
YW Moderator-42ModeratorAnd now December 18 is also my 5th CRanniversary.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorMobico, it isn’t really “kal”, it is pronounced something like “kawl” with a kamatz katon and is generally connected to the next word with a makaf.

YW Moderator-42ModeratorFeterleibel, where in shulchan orach are yiddish names listed?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorWhich reminds me of something I saw from R’ Yaakov Kaminetzky. He asks the famous question of how Yaakov married 2 sisters if he kept the whole Torah. He answers that Yaakov only kept the Torah as a chumra since it wasn’t given yet. But he had given his word to Rochel that he would marry her. So after Lavan tricked him into marrying Leah he decided that his chumra of keeping the Torah shouldn’t take precedence over his obligation of bein adam l’chaveiro to Rochel and Leah to keep his word to them.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorYosef learned egla arufa with Yaakov too and Avraham kept the whole Torah including eiruv tavshilin.

One to remember tal umatar, two for al hanisim, 3 for mashiv haruach, 4 for no yaaleh vyavo, and 5 for no ata chonantanu.
December 5, 2013 12:54 am at 12:54 am in reply to: Tal Umatar will never fall on Zos Chanuka ever again – by a drunken popa #991338YW Moderator-42ModeratorIn 2019 and 2020 we start v’sein tal umatar on December 5th two years in a row. Same in 2026-27, ’47-’48, ’54-’55. In 2031 and 2059 we start Dec 6.
YW Moderator-42Moderator“One can fulfill a Torah obligation when
lighting the Chanukah menorah. The
Torah mitzvah one fulfills is
“V’nishmartem me’od
l’nafshoseichem” (Devarim 4:15) which
stipulates that one must take safety
precautions and protect oneself and
others. Fire is extremely dangerous and
many people have been injured or killed,
R”l, when proper safety measures were
not taken regarding Chanukah flames.
The other mitzvos of Chanukah are
d’Rabbanan.”
YW Moderator-42ModeratorGoq, you’re a gem! Keep your head up and don’t let other people’s behavior toward you bother you.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorOnly in America do people trample each other for a sale exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have.
Perhaps this is the problem. Jews claim that they don’t need to celebrate Thanksgiving because we are thankful every day (modim anachnu…). But lemaysa perhaps we an use a day to take a step back and reflect on our thankfulness before the greed of black Friday is upon us.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorSam, do you have a source for what you wrote that kohanim nowadays don’t worry about cherev k’chalal? What does “aize bayis” have to do with it? (I’m not questioning your psak, just wondering where it is because someone asked me about it recently)
YW Moderator-42ModeratorNo extra charge froggie (that would be ribbit)
YW Moderator-42ModeratorI know of some tzedakahs that are on the map although they never “applied” because they were ineligible. I don’t see any problem going over to one of these places on motzei shabbos to swipe my card…
YW Moderator-42ModeratorLol. Reading through this old thread it seems that Joseph and I were agreeing and were actually proven to be correct at the end. I guess that happens sometimes. 🙂
Anyway, to follow up: I think the guy who won last year gave $10 so they only had to pay $10,000 rather than $1,000,000. It seems that their gamble paid off. They are doing the same raffle again this year. I assume they have some sort of deal with a sponsor to do this for a few years with the hope that they will never have to pay the full million and even if they do it will only be once in the few years that they do it. So sounds like a pretty good business decision to me. It hypes up their raffle and encourages people to give more. And it is more than just one year…

YW Moderator-42ModeratorI’m saving $299 by not going to Israel. Not only that, but I can even make money by going to work that week!

YW Moderator-42ModeratorToday (21 Kislev) is my 5th CRanniversary. Time flies! (I can’t, they’re too fast!)
YW Moderator-42ModeratorThere is lemaysa a stira because it says specifically that charities are excluded but many charities are on the map.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorWhy do chassanim need fancy watches? They already have fancy smart/dumb phones to tell time with. Just give him the money and he can buy himself something useful like a new shas….

YW Moderator-42ModeratorYour original title mentioned a “non-jewish-female-slave”. Perhaps it was changed because it was redundant. If a person is female than by definition…

Also, you don’t have to “switch”. You can use multiple browsers.
Side note: both FF and Chrome have an addon called adblockplus that is very useful.

YW Moderator-42ModeratorCowabunga!
YW Moderator-42ModeratorNechoma, I had heard that the problem of a pregnant woman stepping on nails is only for normally cut nails, not bitten. I don’t remember where I heard this but if true it would minimize the issue and would probably also take care of “eating tumah” which I had never heard of. Do any of the CRabbis here know this halacha?
