How come kohanim in the Beis Hamikdash didn’t wear tfillin? Did the people not doing avoda where tfillin in the Beis Hamikdash?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorHow are things going?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorThere will probably be central heating instead of a large fire for kohanim to warm themselves.
Webcams to watch the avoda sounds nice too. Though it won’t replace actually being there in person.
July 22, 2012 7:49 am at 7:49 am in reply to: Is it bad to say 'guys' when referring to girls? #886802YW Moderator-42ModeratorShlishi, let’s not get into that discussion again please.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorCan one use a plunger on Shabbos?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorSidi, I’m not even sure what you did, I was just making a play on your name and agreeing with you.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorThat sounds like hachona.

YW Moderator-42ModeratorDoes consuming meat on Yom Kippur Kotton count as fasting like eating on Erev Yom Kippur?

YW Moderator-42ModeratorCan you drink a whole bottle of Gefen?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorAnybody here know a boy named Zlateh?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorYep. Big, fat, girl scouts. I can eat a whole box of them.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorA picture of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorPringles of course. Once ya pop, ya can’t stop.
How about a whole box of girl scouts?
July 18, 2012 12:45 am at 12:45 am in reply to: Good stuff for a family near the Delaware water gap #885672YW Moderator-42ModeratorGoq, I think it is the same jeans that Obama wore to the basketball game last night.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorI’ve heard of boys named Noah and girls named Noa. But I haven’t heard of any boys named Tirtzah, Machla, Milka, or Chugla.
Although there is a baseball player named Melky which probably comes from Milka.
I have never heard of a boy named Serach but I do know boys who stink 🙂
YW Moderator-42ModeratorIf you’re already eating croutons is a little bread that bad? Just because it’s a salad doesn’t make it healthy. 🙂
YW Moderator-42ModeratorCONSTANT VIGILANCE!
YW Moderator-42ModeratorThou shalt not post in Olde English.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorThou shalt be a right wing fanatic or face their wrath.
Thou shalt not annoy the mods.
Thou shalt not stalk.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorI may be a minority here but I feel that shorts are a lack of tznius and should not be worn in public.
July 16, 2012 3:15 am at 3:15 am in reply to: Music during the 3 weeks – upbeat a capella vs. slow, sad instrumental? #884916YW Moderator-42ModeratorThat’s exactly what I do, I have a playlist of the acapela songs that I feel are appropriate. Most of my songs are from Miami’s Around the Campfire and Avrami Flam’s Songs of the 3 Weeks. I have friends who record their own acapela music as well.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorI’ve heard of girls named Noa too
YW Moderator-42Moderator147, Why not start now? Why do peoplw think that the only time they are allowed to do tshuva is on Yom Kipppur?
Yummy cupcake, don’t be fooled by everything you read online, just because somebody “sounds real” in a post doesn’t mean they are. You can find all kinds of strange people with strange motives online. Constant Vigilance! (Note: I’m not accusing SiDi of anything, just pointing out in general that you need to be careful. Where’s Jothar got to anyway?)
YW Moderator-42ModeratorSince when is life fair? Life is not fair, some people are more privileged than others and that is how it should be despite what our corrupt society tries to teach you.
As an aside, that is the lesson of Chanuka, as we say, “that’s not fair, the Maccabbes said”.
Users cannot post their email addresses here because this is a frum forum, not Facebook. If somebody wants to sponsor a member of the CR let me know and I’ll consider passing on the info 🙂
YW Moderator-42ModeratorI know of at least 2 people with the name Serach. And I think I’ve heard the name Machla used as well, Chugla on the other hand I don’t think I’ve heard.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorIs this ZeesKite?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorIf ZeesKite is a her than it probably isn’t tznius to hang her picture in your home, even if your home is in Wales.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorIs she still around? Does she post in the CR?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorYou did it. But you did tshuva and asked for mechila. So mchila granted.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorTry underwater basket weaving.

YW Moderator-42ModeratorJuly 12, 2012 4:15 am at 4:15 am in reply to: IDEA: Let the 100,000 attendees at the Siyum Hashas #884870YW Moderator-42ModeratorThere was a very nice story on one of the threads here about 2 Israeli soldiers who learned daf yomi together during the 2nd Lebanon War. How would those soldiers feel about this idea?
Whether you like it or not, it is political and would just cause a lot of people to bash us “chareidim”. Let the siyum be a siyum and hopefully it will be a Kiddush Hashem.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorI missed it. Do I have to drink 2 tomorrow to make up for it? I did get one on May 23 or whatever random day 7-11 decided was their first day of summer.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorMoski, I think you’re mixing me up with Toi.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorCan I keep chocolate frog cards in my wallet?
YW Moderator-42ModeratorCONSTANT VIGILANCE!
YW Moderator-42ModeratorChoppy, we used to have a poster named Rosh Yeshiva, he will be mesader if we get to that. We’re still on the first date and we’re MO so it might take awhile.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorOk pops, but let’s go to carvel first before we get fleishigs.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorSounds like a great idea. You can virtually date, and then virtually get married. Both sides will spend all day in the CR so there is no need to ever physically meet each other. Hold on, isn’t that what we do here already? The only thing missing is the actual proposals and weddings. So how about we dedicate this thread to posters proposing to each other. Those who are machmir can wait until Tu B’Av. For now, you can just post who it is that you are dating and the other side has to post back that they agree to the date. I’ll start. I am officially dating a rich, beautiful, intelligent, pleasantly plump, Jewish woman named popa_bar_abba. If she is ok with it, tonight we will virtually have coffee and hamburgers together at the Jaws of Shamu Eco Park Hall.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorIt seems that YWN is defiantly not posting the story about the people in Ohio who found $3 million worth of baseball cards in their aunt’s attic. I’m sure there were some PBA cards as well as a special edition OneOfMany snort card with rainbow colored hair.
YW Moderator-42ModeratorMy soup is full of great green globs of greasy, grimy…

YW Moderator-42ModeratorUh oh syag, I might need you to cure my doublepostitis.
